Recurrent Hypothermia and Autonomic Dysfunction Secondary to Shapiro Syndrome
ABSTRACT A 44‐year‐old man presented with recurrent hypothermia, diaphoresis and hypertension. Extensive investigation for infectious, inflammatory, metabolic and endocrine aetiologies was negative. MR scan of the brain demonstrated no lesions but revealed callosal dysgenesis, consistent with Shapiro syndrome.

X-ray structure and function studies of key enzymes for biomass conversion [PDF]
The need for large enzyme quantities due to the difficult hydrolysis of recalcitrant polysaccharides is still a major barrier to economical biomass conversion for biofuel production.

A 3D anisotropic hydrogel derived from heart extracellular matrix guides cytoskeletal alignment and nuclear remodeling in reprogrammed cardiomyocyte‐like cells. This study reveals how matrix alignment modulates nuclear envelope dynamics and chromatin state, triggering transcriptional and functional maturation.

Cold adaptations study of glycosyl hydrolase enzymes via computational methods [PDF]
Psychrophiles are cold loving organisms that have adapted to live in permanently cold environments. These microorganisms synthesize psychrophilic enzymes with high catalytic efficiencies at cold temperaturesranging from -20°C to +10°C.

Mitochondrial oxidative enzymes and phosphorylations in cold exposure and hibernation
Oxidative enzyme activities and oxidative phosphorylations of the liver mitochondria of a hibernating species, the golden hamster, and a nonhibernating species, the albino Wistar rat, were examined for changes in response to prolonged cold exposure ...

Tests of predictions made by the Equilibrium Model for the effect of temperature on enzyme activity
The Classical Model describing the effects of temperature on enzyme activity consists of two processes: the catalytic reaction defined by ΔG cat and irreversible inactivation defined by ΔG inact, this model however, does not account for the observed ...

A molecular shielding strategy to convert “protein‐sticky” and “non‐tumor specific” clinical ICG dye, into a “low protein binding” and “tumor‐targeting” dye with prolonged blood circulation and renal clearance is described. These shielded ICGs demonstrate strong tumor accumulation and optimal tissue clearance, resulting in high tumor‐to‐background ...
