Prediction and Prevention of Edge Waves in Continuous Cold Forming of Thick-Wall High-Strength Welded Pipe

open access: yesMetals
In order to reduce the edge waves and defects of the strip in the forming process and obtain better properties of the strip, it is urgent to establish a better flexible cold forming process.

On the Intermediate Annealing during Cold Forming Process of Steel

open access: yesJournal of the Society of Materials Science, Japan, 1966
Although annealing at around 700°C (below A1) is commonly recommended as the intermediate annealing during cold forming processes of steels, sometimes it does not necessarily gain satisfactory results, because the cold forming is generally heterogeneous deformation of steel.

Numerical simulation on chain-die forming of an AHSS top-hat section [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The applications of Advanced High-Strength Steels (AHSS) in the automotive industry are rapidly increasing due to a demand for a lightweight material that significantly reduces fuel consumption without compromising passenger safety. Automotive industries

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

The influence of process parameters and sheet material on the temperature development in the forming zone

open access: yesManufacturing Review, 2019
Cold metal forming is a fast and economical way of producing a wide range of precise components. Its profitability mainly depends on part quality, process stability, and service intervals of tools.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Finite element simulation of stretch forming of aluminium-polymer laminate foils used for pharmaceutical packaging

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2016
Pharmaceutical high barrier blister packages are manufactured from aluminium-polymer laminate foils (e.g. consisting of PA-Al-PVC layers). By a cold stretch forming process cavities are formed.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Effects of Vibrations on Metal Forming Process: Analytical Approach and Finite Element Simulations

open access: yes, 2010
Vibration assisted forming is one of the most recent and beneficial technique used to improve forming process. Effects of vibration on metal forming processes can be attributed to two causes.
