Optimum Membrane Structures for Growth of Coliform and Fecal Coliform Organisms [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Microbiology, 1975
The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum membrane filter structure and characteristics for recovery of coliform organisms. Additionally, other factors such as sterilization method and membrane composition were examined. Fecal coliform growth tests with varied samples indicated that the most critical factor in recovery was surface pore ...

Comparative Meta‐Analysis of Antimicrobial Peptides in Aquatic and Terrestrial Livestock Species

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
A global meta‐analysis of 58 studies (926 effect sizes and 29 species across five taxa) revealed that dietary antimicrobial peptides generally improve growth performance, blood metabolites, and immune responses. The greatest benefits were observed in omnivorous livestock, such as pigs and chickens. Dose‐duration effects were evident. An optimal outcome

Enterobacteriaceae, coliforms, faecal coliforms and salmonellas in raw ewes'milk

open access: yesJournal of Applied Bacteriology, 1987
Thirty‐nine samples of freshly drawn ewes' milk collected at 13 farms, and 120 samples of raw ewes' milk collected on arrival at a dairy were examined. Farm samples had geometric mean counts of 4.4 × 10 2 Enterobacteriaceae/ml, 3.9 × 10 2 coliforms/ml ...
