Building a Model of Successful Collaborative Learning for Company Innovativeness

open access: yesJournal of Entrepreneurship, Management and Innovation, 2014
The aim of the paper is to develop a model of successful collaborative learning for company innovativeness. First of all, the paper explores the issue of inter-firm learning, focusing its attention on collaborative learning. Secondly, inter-firm learning

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Collaborative Metric Learning

open access: yesProceedings of the 26th International Conference on World Wide Web, 2017
Metric learning algorithms produce distance metrics that capture the important relationships among data. In this work, we study the connection between metric learning and collaborative filtering. We propose Collaborative Metric Learning (CML) which learns a joint metric space to encode not only users' preferences but also the user-user and item-item ...

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Collaborative Learning in the Cloud [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 26th ACM Conference on Hypertext & Social Media - HT '15, 2015
This present study aims to investigate how students perceive collaboration and identifies associated technologies used to collaborate. In particular we aim to address the following research questions: What are the factors that impact satisfaction with collaboration? How do these factors differ in different collaborative settings?

Pathways and pitfalls: a qualitative study of student experiences in biomedical science education

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biomedical science students from underrepresented backgrounds face barriers including financial strain, disrupted laboratory access and cultural exclusion. Peer networks provide vital support when institutional systems are difficult to navigate. To create inclusive learning environments and achieve academic success, educators should blend active, hands‐

How Do Children Learn and Teach? In-Class Collaborative Teaching Simulation on the Complex Doubly Structural Network

open access: yesSICE Journal of Control, Measurement, and System Integration, 2017
In this research, a novel teaching simulation model is proposed, in which the understanding status, knowledge structure, and collaborative effect of each learner are integrated through the concept of a doubly structural network model. The purpose of this

Collaborative Learning Aspects in VSE [PDF]

open access: yesElectronic Workshops in Computing, 2005
The paper would suggest a pedagogical model for modelling Virtual Scientific Experiments (VSE) starting from the Theory of Didactics Situations and taking advantages from the recent studies on collaborative learning. The possibilities given by the new technologies, and in particular by the GRID, seems to be particulary interesting for the sharing of ...
