A note on "A LP-based heuristic for a time-constrained routing problem" [PDF]
Avella et al. (2006) [Avella, P., D'Auria, B., Salerno, S. (2006). A LP-based heuristic for a time-constrained routing problem. European Journal of Operational Research 173:120-124] investigate a time-constrained routing (TCR) problem.

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Optimization Models for Reducing Off-Cuts of Raw Materials in Construction Site
More than ten billion tons of construction waste are generated every year in the world. The large volume of construction waste not only increases costs for contractors, but also poses a threat to the environment.

A Primer in Column Generation [PDF]
We give a didactic introduction to the use of the column generation technique in linear and in particular in integer programming. We touch on both, the relevant basic theory and more advanced ideas which help in solving large scale practical problems.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Optimizing Bus Driver Scheduling: A Set Covering Approach for Reducing Transportation Costs
Cutting operational costs is a critical component for transportation agencies. To reduce these costs, agencies must optimize their scheduling. Typically, the total operating costs of transport include vehicle expenses and driver wages. Solving such tasks

Numerical simulation of primary atomization process of liquid jet in subsonic crossflow
Studies of primary atomization of liquid transverse jets in subsonic crossflow consider surface waves as the main cause of jet fragmentation. The characteristics of surface waves during jet fragmentation have been initially analyzed, but there is a lack ...
