Yield stability in common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) genotypes

An experiment was undertaken to determine the stability of seed yield in 21 common bean genotypes representing three growth habits. Seven genotypes in each growth habit (determinate bush, indeterminate bush and indeterminate prostrate) were evaluated in replicated trials at three locations for three years under rain fed conditions in Ethiopia.

Phenotypic observations in the real farm conditions have importance for the plant breeding programs. Hierarchical cluster analysis is a useful guide to evaluation of different genotypes. In the present study, the common bean genotypes that are widely grown in Turkey were subjected to cluster analysis according to their phenotypic evaluations.
