Thermostable neutral metalloprotease from Geobacillus sp. EA1 does not share thermolysin's preference for substrates with leucine at the P1′ position

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Knowing how proteases recognise preferred substrates facilitates matching proteases to applications. The S1′ pocket of protease EA1 directs cleavage to the N‐terminal side of hydrophobic residues, particularly leucine. The S1′ pocket of thermolysin differs from EA's at only one position (leucine in place of phenylalanine), which decreases cleavage ...

On Multi-Dimensional Sonic-Subsonic Flow

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper, a compensated compactness framework is established for sonic-subsonic approximate solutions to the $n$-dimensional$(n\geq 2)$ Euler equations for steady irrotational flow that may contain stagnation points. This compactness framework holds

Application of Thick Concrete Rolling Technology in Gaobei Water Conservancy Project of Han River

open access: yesRenmin Zhujiang, 2020
In order to increase the thickness of roller compacted concrete (RCC) from the conventional 30 cm to 50~60 cm,and improve the construction efficiency of RCC dams, this paper conducts the 50~60 cm concrete rolling compaction test by the first domestic ...

Compact cinematics

open access: yesNECSUS, 2016
In this essay we propose the term ‘compact cinematics’ for the study of the various compact, short, compressed, and miniature (audio)visual artifacts, forms, and practices that circulate in our everyday multimedia environment across technologies, genres, and disciplines.

Exploring lipid diversity and minimalism to define membrane requirements for synthetic cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Designing the lipid membrane of synthetic cells is a complex task, in which its various roles (among them solute transport, membrane protein support, and self‐replication) should all be integrated. In this review, we report the latest top‐down and bottom‐up advances and discuss compatibility and complexity issues of current engineering approaches ...

C‐mannosylation promotes ADAMTS1 activation and secretion in human testicular germ cell tumor NEC8 cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
C‐mannosylation is a unique form of protein glycosylation. In this study, we demonstrated that ADAMTS1 is C‐mannosylated at Trp562 and Trp565 in human testicular germ cell tumor NEC8 cells. We found that C‐mannosylation of ADAMTS1 is essential for its secretion, processing, enzymatic activity, and ability to promote vasculogenic mimicry. These findings

Projective Compactness and Conformal Boundaries

open access: yes, 2015
Let $\overline{M}$ be a smooth manifold with boundary $\partial M$ and interior $M$. Consider an affine connection $\nabla$ on $M$ for which the boundary is at infinity.

Application of Hilbert instantaneous spectrum on improved bolt anchoring quality detection

open access: yesEngineering Reports, 2022
The nondestructive testing technology for bolt anchoring quality based on the acoustic reflection method is developing rapidly. Hilbert transform instantaneous spectrum is frequently used.

A Compactness Theorem for The Dual Gromov-Hausdorff Propinquity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We prove a compactness theorem for the dual Gromov-Hausdorff propinquity as a noncommutative analogue of the Gromov compactness theorem for the Gromov-Hausdorff distance.
