A high-quality cucumber genome assembly enhances computational comparative genomics

open access: yesZeitschrift für Induktive Abstammungs- und Vererbungslehre, 2019
Genetic variation is expressed by the presence of polymorphisms in compared genomes of individuals that can be transferred to next generations. The aim of this work was to reveal genome dynamics by predicting polymorphisms among the genomes of three ...

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Genomic Analyses Reveal the Influence of Geographic Origin, Migration, and Hybridization on Modern Dog Breed Development

open access: yesCell Reports, 2017
There are nearly 400 modern domestic dog breeds with a unique histories and genetic profiles. To track the genetic signatures of breed development, we have assembled the most diverse dataset of dog breeds, reflecting their extensive phenotypic variation ...

Genomic characteristics and comparative genomics analysis of the endophytic fungus Sarocladium brachiariae

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2019
Sarocladium brachiariae is a newly identified endophytic fungus isolated from Brachiaria brizantha. A previous study indicated that S. brachiariae had antifungal activity; however, limited genomic information restrains further study.

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Integration of Next-generation Sequencing Technologies with Comparative Genomics in Cereals [Elektronisk resurs]

open access: yes, 2016
Cereals are the major sources of calories worldwide. Their production should be high to achieve food security, despite the projected increase in global population. Genomics research may enhance cereal productivity. Genomics immensely benefits from robust

Comparative Genomics ofCryptosporidium [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Genomics, 2013
Until recently, the apicomplexan parasites,Cryptosporidium hominisandC. parvum, were considered the same species. However, the two parasites, now considered distinct species, exhibit significant differences in host range, infectivity, and pathogenicity, and their sequenced genomes exhibit only 95–97% identity.

Comparative genomics reveals the origin of fungal hyphae and multicellularity

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Hyphae represent a hallmark structure of multicellular fungi. The evolutionary origins of hyphae and of the underlying genes are, however, hardly known.
