The Comparative Genome Dashboard

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
AbstractThe Comparative Genome Dashboard is a web-based software tool for interactive exploration of the similarities and differences in gene functions between organisms. It provides a high-level graphical survey of cellular functions, and enables the user to drill down to examine subsystems of interest in greater detail.

The cytoskeletal control of B cell receptor and integrin signaling in normal B cells and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In lymphoid organs, antigen recognition and B cell receptor signaling rely on integrins and the cytoskeleton. Integrins act as mechanoreceptors, couple B cell receptor activation to cytoskeletal remodeling, and support immune synapse formation as well as antigen extraction.

Complete mitochondrial genome of Mahachai betta, Betta mahachaiensis (Teleostei: Osphronemidae)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2020
Mahachai bettas (Betta mahachaiensis) are distributed in areas of brackish water with Nipa Palms in Samut Sakhon, Thailand but urbanization is restricting their biodiversity. A complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of B. mahachaiensis was determined

Comparative genomics of 10 new Caenorhabditis species

open access: yesEvolution Letters, 2019
The nematode Caenorhabditis elegans has been central to the understanding of metazoan biology. However, C. elegans is but one species among millions and the significance of this important model organism will only be fully revealed if it is placed in a ...

Social context prevents heat hormetic effects against mutagens during fish development

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study shows that sublethal heat stress protects fish embryos against ultraviolet radiation, a concept known as ‘hormesis’. However, chemical stress transmission between fish embryos negates this protective effect. By providing evidence for the mechanistic molecular basis of heat stress hormesis and interindividual stress communication, this study ...

A multi-omics approach to evaluate the quality of milk whey used in Ricotta cheese production.

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2016
In the past, milk whey was only a by-product of cheese production, but currently, it has a high commercial value for use in the food industries. However, the regulation of whey management (i.e., storage and hygienic properties) has not been updated, and ...

Genetic Variation, Comparative Genomics, and the Diagnosis of Disease.

open access: yesNew England Journal of Medicine, 2019
Uncharted Regions of the Human Genome The genome is not akin to a string of fixed length. Many large segments of DNA may be present or absent — a major contributor to pathogenic genomic variation.

Decoding the dual role of autophagy in cancer through transcriptional and epigenetic regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Transcriptional and epigenetic regulation controls autophagy, which exerts context‐dependent effects on cancer: Autophagy suppresses tumorigenesis by maintaining cellular homeostasis or promotes tumor progression by supporting survival under stress. In this “In a Nutshell” article, we explore the intricate mechanisms of the dual function of autophagy ...

Comparative genomics and the nature of placozoan species

open access: yesPLoS Biology, 2018
Placozoans are a phylum of nonbilaterian marine animals currently represented by a single described species, Trichoplax adhaerens, Schulze 1883. Placozoans arguably show the simplest animal morphology, which is identical among isolates collected ...

Comparative genomics - A perspective [PDF]

open access: yesBioinformation, 2007
The rapidly emerging field of comparative genomics has yielded dramatic results. Comparative genome analysis has become feasible with the availability of a number of completely sequenced genomes. Comparison of complete genomes between organisms allow for global views on genome evolution and the availability of many completely sequenced genomes ...
