Competence Assessment as an Expert System for Human Resource Management: A Mathematical Approach [PDF]
Efficient human resource management needs accurate assessment and representation of available competences as well as effective mapping of required competences for specific jobs and positions. In this regard, appropriate definition and identification of competence gaps express differences between acquired and required competences.

We provide a step‐by‐step guide for producing E140 antigen fragments from Plasmodium berghei (Pb1) and Plasmodium vivax (Pv1). Pb1/Pv1 are expressed in E. coli, solubilized by freeze–thawing, refolded by slow dilution, purified by affinity chromatography (IMAC), then concentrated and subjected to quality control.

Optimal coordination of resources: A solution from reinforcement learning [PDF]
Efficient allocation is important in nature and human society, where individuals frequently compete for limited resources. The Minority Game (MG) is perhaps the simplest toy model to address this issue. However, most previous solutions assume that the strategies are provided a priori and static, failing to capture their adaptive nature.

Reaction networks as systems for resource allocation: A variational principle for their non-equilibrium steady states [PDF]
Within a fully microscopic setting, we derive a variational principle for the non-equilibrium steady states of chemical reaction networks, valid for time-scales over which chemical potentials can be taken to be slowly varying: at stationarity the system minimizes a global function of the reaction fluxes with the form of a Hopfield Hamiltonian with ...

Methods for working with problem residents in medical physics residency education
Abstract Medical physics residency training programs may occasionally encounter residents requiring additional intervention beyond normal training efforts. In the literature, these residents are referred to as “problem” residents. While the physician literature on the subject is valuable, this paper specifically focuses on dealing with a problem ...
