MIF as an oncogenic driver of low‐heterogeneity melanomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Shvefel and colleagues identified tumor‐secreted macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) as an upregulated cytokine that mediates immune resistance in melanomas with low‐intratumoral heterogeneity. MIF and its functional paralogue D‐dopachrome tautomerase (D‐DT or MIF‐2) have overlapping but nonidentical signaling functions and are hypothesized to

On the connection between coordinate and diagonal arrangement complements [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We study diagonal arrangement complements $D(K)$ in $\mathbb{C}^m$. We consider the class of simplicial complexes $K$ in which any two missing faces have a common vertex, and prove that the coordinate arrangement complement $U(K)$ is the double suspension of the diagonal arrangement complement $D(K)$. In the case of subspace arrangements in $\mathbb{R}^

Cactus Graphs and Graphs Complement Conjecture [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
In this paper we proof that any cactus graph satisfies graph complement conjecture by finding a orthogonal representation of its complement in $\mathbb{R}^5$.

Tonic signaling of the B‐cell antigen‐specific receptor is a common functional hallmark in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cell phosphoproteomes at early disease stages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
B‐cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B‐CLL) and monoclonal B‐cell lymphocytosis (MBL) show altered proteomes and phosphoproteomes, analyzed using mass spectrometry, protein microarrays, and western blotting. Identifying 2970 proteins and 316 phosphoproteins, including 55 novel phosphopeptides, we reveal BCR and NF‐kβ/STAT3 signaling in disease ...

The operator of relative complementation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
By the operator of relative complementation is meant a mapping assigning to every element x of an interval [a,b] of a lattice L the set x^{ab} of all relative complements of x in [a,b]. Of course, if L is relatively complemented then x^{ab} is non-empty for each interval [a,b] and every element x belonging to it.

Ubiquitination of transcription factors in cancer: unveiling therapeutic potential

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In cancer, dysregulated ubiquitination of transcription factors contributes to the uncontrolled growth and survival characteristics of tumors. Tumor suppressors are degraded by aberrant ubiquitination, or oncogenic transcription factors gain stability through ubiquitination, thereby promoting tumorigenesis.

C1q acts in the tumour microenvironment as a cancer-promoting factor independently of complement activation

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
C1q is known to initiate the activation of the complement classical pathway. Here, the authors show the C1q is expressed in the tumour microenvironment and can promote cancer cell migration and adhesion in a complement activation-independent manner.
