Eight epitope‐mapped monoclonal antibodies (MoAbs) to complement component C3d and five to complement component C3c were investigated to determine whether they could inhibit the classical activation pathway of complement‐mediated lysis (CML) by using blood group AB red cells sensitized by A or B MoAbs.

Structure of C3c in complex with compstatin reveals a new mechanism of complement inhibition
Molecular Immunology, 2007Bert Janssen - Conformational Complexity of Complement Component C3 60 Undesired complement activation is a major cause of tissue injury in various pathological conditions and contributes to several immune complex diseases. Compstatin, a 13-residue peptide, is an effective inhibitor of C3 activation thus preventing a central and crucial step in ...

The hemolytic test to date has been the sole analytic technique applied to study the complement reaction in the swine. To improve the analytical possibilities for this species we have developed polyclonal antibody reagents with specificities for the C3c and C3d activation fragments of swine C3. Access to these reagents, by which activation products can

Serum complement C3c concentration in non-obese young insulin-resistant Mexicans.
Diabetes, nutrition & metabolism, 2003The aim of this study was to compare the serum complement C3 concentration between non-obese young insulin-sensitive and insulin-resistant Mexicans. A cross-sectional study was carried out in 28 healthy, non-obese [Body mass index (BMI) < 26 kg/m2] young (age 19-25 yr), male volunteers to measure the serum C3 concentration.

The present report describes the development of electroimmunoassays for the direct quantification of C3d and C3c, split products of the third complement factor (C3). Both methods were developed as rocket immunoelectrophoreses, using two antibody preparations with specificities against the C and D epitopes on C3.

Complement C3c and C3d in plasma and synovial fluid in rheumatoid arthritis.
Acta pathologica, microbiologica, et immunologica Scandinavica. Section C, Immunology, 1984By means of recently developed immunochemical assays increased levels of the complement C3c and C3d split products were found in synovial fluids of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) as compared with synovial fluids of patients with traumatic synovitis (TS). In plasma, only the C3d levels were significantly increased compared with plasma levels of
