Reference Typing Report for Complement Factor B

Experimental and Clinical Immunogenetics, 1998
Factor B (BF) reference typing was carried out on the occasion of the VIIth Complement Genetics Workshop in Mainz, May 1998. Two different sets of samples were analysed by agarose electrophoresis and/or isoelectric focusing at the protein level, and by PCR-RFLP analysis at the DNA level.

Cloning and sequencing of the porcine complement factor B

Immunogenetics, 1991
A genomic clone, SSBf1, containing the complement factor B (BF), a major histocompatibility class III antigen, has been isolated from a porcine genomic library. Partial sequencing and comparison with a human BF gene has identified seven exons coding for amino acids of Ba and Bb, the two subunits of BF.

Hormonal Regulation of Complement Factor B in Human Endometrium

American Journal of Reproductive Immunology, 1993
PROBLEM: Recent investigations have demonstrated the presence of complement components in human endometrium in a cycle‐specific manner. Luteal phase endometrium has been shown to synthesize complement C3 de novo, whereas proliferative endometrium produces little or no C3. Likewise factor B. which is critical to the activation of the alternative pathway

Analysis of complement Factor B activation by PAGE-immunoblotting

Journal of Immunological Methods, 1989
Initiation of complement activation via the alternative pathway results in cleavage of Factor B into two fragments Ba and Bb. Employing PAGE and immunoblotting analysis we have demonstrated Ba and Bb activation fragments following in vitro and in vivo activation in a range of biological fluids including cerebrospinal fluid and synovial fluid ...

Complement factor H and factor B expression in RPE cells

Acta Ophthalmologica, 2008
Abstract Purpose Age‐related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of untreatable blindness in the developed world. The pathogenesis of AMD is not fully understood. Recent evidence suggests that local inflammation in particular complement activation plays an important role. We aim to understand how complement activation is regulated at retina/

A New Complement Factor B Variant (BF S075) in Japanese

Human Heredity, 1990
A new slow-moving variant of the complement factor B, named BF S075, was found in a Japanese patient with cerebral thrombosis and urticaria. The variant was inherited in a codominant manner. The protein concentration and functional hemolytic activity of the complement factor B in the patient's serum were within normal limits.

Studies on esterolytic activity of alternative complement component factor B

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Protein Structure and Molecular Enzymology, 1983
Abstract Alternative complement component factor B was purified from human plasma and its esterolytic activity on various α-naphthylester derivatives was examined. Of these substrates, LeuAlaArg-naphthylester was the most susceptible. The K m value of factor B for this substrate was about 5·10 −4 M.

Factor B of the Alternative Complement Pathway on Human Lymphocytes

Scandinavian Journal of Immunology, 1976
A factor on human lymphocytes has been identified as factor B of the alternative pathway. Lymphocytes can replace factor B in the fluid phase formation of C3 convertase with cobra venom factor (CVF). This lymphocyte activity is inhibited by specific anti‐human factor B, and it is shown by Burkitt lymphoma cell lines cultured in the absence of any ...

DNA methylation and the origin of complement factor B polymorphism

Human Immunology, 1995
BF is a polymorphic complement component encoded in the MHC. In each of two frequent alleles of BF, BF*FA and BF*FB, the difference in relation to the major allele BF*S has been shown to consist in the nonsynonymous substitution of only one base of the coding sequence.

Molecular Basis for the Microheterogeneity of Human Complement Factor B

Complement, 1988
The involvement of sialic acids in the microheterogeneity of human complement factor B was investigated. Desialylation kinetics revealed all the charge intermediates from a complex native to a homogeneous form. The relation between this heterogeneity and posttranslational events was explored in cultured hepatoma cells.
