Mice Deficient for the Complement Factor B Develop and Reproduce Normally [PDF]
Factor B is an essential component of the complement cascade which forms the C3 and C5 convertase of the alternative pathway. Factor B cleavage products also function as cofactors in antibody‐independent monocyte‐mediated cytotoxicity, macrophage spreading, plasminogen activation and proliferation of B lymphocytes. Several healthy kindreds heterozygous

A Conserved Element in the Serine Protease Domain of Complement Factor B [PDF]
Factor B and C2 are serine proteases that carry the catalytic sites of the complement C3 and C5 convertases. Their protease domains are activated by conformational changes that occur during convertase assembly and are deactivated upon convertase dissociation.

On fundamental groups related to the Hirzebruch surface F_1 [PDF]
Given a projective surface and a generic projection to the plane, the braid monodromy factorization (and thus, the braid monodromy type) of the complement of its branch curve is one of the most important topological invariants, stable on deformations. From this factorization, one can compute the fundamental group of the complement of the branch curve ...

Low‐density lipoprotein receptor‐related protein 6 (LRP6) is a key receptor for the Wnt antagonist Dickkopf1 (DKK1). DKK1 protein expression is induced in a bleomycin (BLM)‐induced lung injury model. We show that DKK1 induces proinflammatory and profibrotic genes in lung fibroblasts.

Complement Component C3 and Complement Factor B Promote Growth of Cutaneous Squamous Cell Carcinoma [PDF]
Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) is one of the most common metastatic skin cancers with increasing incidence. We examined the roles of complement component C3 and complement factor B (CFB) in the growth of cSCC. Analysis of cSCC cell lines (n = 8) and normal human epidermal keratinocytes (n = 11) with real-time quantitative PCR and Western ...

Characteristics of the Kelch domain containing (KLHDC) subfamily and relationships with diseases
The Kelch protein superfamily includes 63 members, with the KLHDC subfamily having 10 proteins. While their functions are not fully understood, recent advances in KLHDC2's structure and role in protein degradation have highlighted its potential for drug development, especially in PROTAC therapies.

Primary extranodal diffuse large B‐cell lymphoma: Molecular features, treatment, and prognosis
One‐third of DLBCL arises from extranodal organs and is challenging to manage. Molecular features are critical to elucidate the differences in clinical features, predict the disease prognosis, and improve effective targeted therapeutic strategies. Abstract Diffuse large B‐cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common subtype of non‐Hodgkin's lymphoma and ...

The Murine Factor H-Related Protein FHR-B Promotes Complement Activation
Factor H-related (FHR) proteins consist of varying number of complement control protein domains that display various degrees of sequence identity to respective domains of the alternative pathway complement inhibitor factor H (FH). While such FHR proteins
