Engineering tandem VHHs to target different epitopes to enhance antibody‐dependent cell‐mediated cytotoxicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Tandem VHH targeting distinct EGFR epitopes were engineered into a monovalent bispecific antibody (7D12‐EGA1‐Fc) with more potent ADCC without increasing affinity to EGFR. Structural modeling of 7D12‐EGA1‐Fc showed cross‐linking of separate EGFR domains to enhance CD16a engagement on NK cells.

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE IN IRAQI NATIVE GAZELLE: VIRUS ISOLATION, SEROTYPING AND CHARACTERIZATION

open access: yesThe Iraqi Journal of Veterinary Medicine, 1988
Foot and mouth disease (FMD) virus type 0 was isolated from blood of two dead gazelle (Gazella gazella) at the fenced gazelle garden, Baghdad, Iraq. Affected animals were showing errsions in the mouth cavity and foamy fluid tinged with blood oozing from ...

A Complement Fixation Test for Dengue.

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1948
Studies carried out by one of us (A. B. S.) since 1944 have established the fact that several immunologically distinct but related types of virus are responsible for the clinically typical and) atypical forms of dengue.1 Since the adaptation of dengue virus to mice,2 Sabin and Schlesinger found that the neutralizing antibodies which developed following

Tumor‐stromal crosstalk and macrophage enrichment are associated with chemotherapy response in bladder cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemoresistance in bladder cancer: Macrophage recruitment associated with CXCL1, CXCL5 and CXCL8 expression is characteristic of Gemcitabine/Cisplatin (Gem/Cis) Non‐Responder tumors (right side) while Responder tumors did not show substantial tumor‐stromal crosstalk (left side). All biological icons are attributed to Bioicons: carcinoma, cancerous‐cell‐

The Impact of Tilburg Frailty on Poststroke Fatigue in First‐Ever Stroke Patients: A Cross‐Sectional Study With Unified Measurement Tools and Improved Statistics

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Poststroke fatigue (PSF) and frailty share substantial overlap in their manifestations, yet previous research has yielded conflicting results due to the use of heterogeneous frailty assessment tools. Objective To evaluate the independent impact of frailty on PSF using a unified measurement system (Tilburg Frailty Indicator, TFI ...

Systemic T Cell Receptor Profiling Reveals Adaptive Immune Activation and Potential Immune Signatures of Diagnosis and Brain Atrophy in Epilepsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Epilepsy is increasingly associated with immune dysregulation and inflammation. The T cell receptor (TCR), a key mediator of adaptive immunity, shows repertoire alterations in various immune‐mediated diseases. The unique TCR sequence serves as a molecular barcode for T cells, and clonal expansion accompanied by reduced overall TCR ...

Prediction Model for Etiologic Differentiation of Isolated Vestibular Syndrome in Emergency Settings

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This study aimed to develop and validate a predictive model for differentiating central from peripheral etiologies in patients with isolated vestibular syndrome (VS). Methods In this multicenter retrospective cohort study, 506 patients with isolated VS from five hospitals were divided into derivation (n = 301) and validation (n = 205)
