A gyroless adaptation of attitude complementary filtering
2019 18th European Control Conference (ECC), 2019This article proposes a methodology for estimating the attitude of a rigid body from vector measurements only, i.e. without gyrometers. Classically, two vector measurements are enough to determine the attitude of a rigid body, through an algebraic calculation which is sometimes considered as computationally costly or tedious to implement.

Complementary two-dimensional digital filters
Proceedings of the IEEE, 1986The concept of complementary one-dimensional digital filters is extended here to the two-dimensional case. An application of the complementary two-dimensional filters is described and illustrated with the aid of an example.

Generalized magnitude and power complementary filters
Proceedings of ICASSP '94. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2002A new higher order generalization of magnitude and power complementary filters is proposed in this paper. The proposed scheme is shown to have superior frequency characteristics compared to the ordinary complementary filters. Applications of these generalized complementary filters include subband coding for audio and video, and sharpening of amplitude ...

Complementary IIR digital filter banks
ICASSP '85. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1985The class of digital filter pairs satisfying two types of complementary properties simultaneously is reexamined. The pair is required to have complementary square magnitude characteristics with respect to a constant and transfer functions complementary with respect to an allpass function.

The Self balancing robot is based on the inverted pendulum concept, wherein an inverted pendulum is positioned on a cart and the cart is allowed to move on the horizontal axis so as to keep the pendulum in the upright position. This is a classic case of an unstable system.

Attitude Estimation with Complementary Filter
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2010An attitude estimation method is presented for a robot using low-cost solid-state inertial sensors. The attitude estimates are obtained from a complementary filter by combining the measurements from the integration of a tri-axis gyro and an aiding system mechanized using a tri-axis accelerometer and a tri-axis magnetometer.

On the design of complementary filters
ICASSP '79. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005An algorithm is presented for synthesizing lowpass and highpass filters with identical phase transfer functions and such that the sum of the corresponding amplitude transfer functions is identically 1.0. The design procedure is based on model lowpass filters such as Butterworth, Chebychev, or elliptic.

Non-causal complementary filters
Signal Processing, 1992Introducing the idea of non-causal filtering into the design of complementary filter pairs, an extension of this filter is obtained. It is also shown that the magnitude of any non-causal complementary filter is the cosine of its phase. Using a lemma about non-causal polynomials for a given filter order, the number of poles outside the unit circle can ...

Complementary pole-pair filters-A new family of transitional filters
1993 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2002A new family of transitional filters is proposed. The poles of the transfer function are located on a circle corresponding to the pole-frequency and are judiciously perturbed from those obtained for Butterworth filters. It is shown that an infinite number of such filters can exist. Some typical responses are given. >

Fractional-Order Complementary Filters for Sensor Applications
2020 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS), 2020Fractional-order complementary filter topologies, which could be employed in various sensor applications, are presented in this paper. The core of the implementation is a fractional-order low-pass filter, while its complementary counterpart is derived through the substitution of the output of the low-pass filter with the input signal.
