On the Nonlinear Complexity and Lempel–Ziv Complexity of Finite Length Sequences

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2007
The nonlinear complexity of binary sequences and its connections with Lempel-Ziv complexity is studied in this paper. A new recursive algorithm is presented, which produces the minimal nonlinear feedback shift register of a given binary sequence.

Mechanisms governing poly(A)-tail-length specificity of the human PAN2-PAN3 deadenylase complex

open access: yesCell Reports
Summary: The lifespan of most eukaryotic mRNAs is modulated by the gradual shortening of the poly(A) tail and removal of the associated poly(A)-binding protein.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Combining antibody conjugates with cytotoxic and immune‐stimulating payloads maximizes anti‐cancer activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Methods to improve antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) treatment durability in cancer therapy are needed. We utilized ADCs and immune‐stimulating antibody conjugates (ISACs), which are made from two non‐competitive antibodies, to enhance the entry of toxic payloads into cancer cells and deliver immunostimulatory agents into immune cells.

Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.

DNA segregation under Par protein control.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
The spatial organization of DNA is mediated by the Par protein system in some bacteria. ParB binds specifically to the parS sequence on DNA and orchestrates its motion by interacting with ParA bound to the nucleoid. In the case of plasmids, a single ParB

Alternative splicing of NURF301 generates distinct NURF chromatin remodeling complexes with altered modified histone binding specificities.

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2009
Drosophila NURF is an ISWI-containing chromatin remodeling complex that catalyzes ATP-dependent nucleosome sliding. By sliding nucleosomes, NURF can alter chromatin structure and regulate transcription.
