Wire length as a circuit complexity measure

open access: yesJournal of Computer and System Sciences, 2005
AbstractWe introduce wire length as a salient complexity measure for analyzing the circuit complexity of sensory processing in biological neural systems. This new complexity measure is applied in this paper to two basic computational problems that arise in translation- and scale-invariant pattern recognition, and hence appear to be useful as benchmark ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Fibrations of 3-manifolds and asymptotic translation length in the arc complex

open access: yes, 2018
Given a 3-manifold $M$ fibering over the circle, we investigate how the asymptotic translation lengths of pseudo-Anosov monodromies in the arc complex vary as we vary the fibration.

The Complexity of MaxMin Length Triangulation

open access: yes, 2012
In 1991, Edelsbrunner and Tan gave an O(n^2) algorithm for finding the MinMax Length triangulation of a set of points in the plane. In this paper we resolve one of the open problems stated in that paper, by showing that finding a MaxMin Length triangulation is an NP-complete problem.

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Metal-metal bond lengths in complexes of transition metals [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1976
In complexes of the transition metals containing clusters of metal atoms the cobalt-cobalt bond lengths are almost always within 1 pm of the single-bond value 246 pm given by the enneacovalent radius of cobalt, whereas most of the observed iron-iron bond lengths are significantly larger than the single-bond value 248 pm, the mean being 264

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Construction of run-length waveform sample library in amplitude domain of complex dynamic power signals

open access: yesDiance yu yibiao
Aiming at the impact of rapid change of complex dynamic power signal on the error of electricity meter, currently published papers only extract a few waveform samples for analysis, which cannot reflect waveform modes of various current variations, and do
