Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Lipopolysaccharide uptake is augmented in lipopolysaccharide‐tolerant mouse macrophage‐like cells via increased CD14 expression

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In normal (nontolerant) cells, CD14 is crucial for both LPS uptake and LPS signaling. In LPS‐tolerant cells, in which LPS‐induced TNF‐α and IFN‐β production is suppressed, there is a dramatic increase in surface CD14 expression. The overexpressed CD14 in LPS‐tolerant cells is responsible for the enhanced LPS uptake without inducing pro‐inflammatory ...

Study on extreme sulfuration behavior of brush-electroplated silver-graphene composite coatings as the electrical contact materials for the outdoor high-voltage isolating switch

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
The silver-graphene (Ag-G) composite coating was successfully prepared on the copper substrate via the method of cyanide-free brush plating. When the sulfuration temperature is increased from −70 °C to 45 °C, the sulfuration degree of the Ag-G composite ...

Influence of nano-SiO2 on the bonding strength and wear resistance properties of polyurethane coating

open access: yesScience and Engineering of Composite Materials, 2019
To improve the wear resistance of polyurethane (PU) coating and its adhesion to the steel substrate, a series of simple and practicable techniques were designed to mix nano-SiO2 with PU powder to cast a coating layer onto the steel.
