Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

The role of silica on the superiority of corrosion barrier performance and biological properties of sintered titania-silica composite coating electrophoretically deposited on 316L stainless steel

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
TiO2 and TiO2–SiO2 composite coatings were electrophoretically deposited on anodized 316L stainless steel substrates and then sintered at 1100 °C. TiO2 coating showed a rutile phase composition involving a cracked surface with a wide diffusion region ...

Development of human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 by yeast display

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 are generated by yeast display‐guided selection. These antibodies bind to soluble and cell‐surface forms of TARM1. Also, these antibodies exhibit agonistic activity in the NFAT‐GFP reporter assay, indicating that TARM1 signaling can be functionally modulated by antibodies and suggesting TARM1 as a potential ...

Infrared spectroscopic study on residual chitosan-based composite seed coating in kaolin

open access: yesScientific Reports
The decomposition of residual chitosan-based composite seed coating in kaolin under different temperatures and salinities is analyzed with a Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The degradation cycle is 28 days.

Study on protection performance of nano N/TiO_2-alkyd composite coating

open access: yes, 2015
N-doped TiO_2 (N/TiO_2) nanoparticles was prepared by sol-gel method, characterized by X-ray diffractometer and transmission electron microscope, and then mixed with alkyd resin to make a nano N/TiO_2-alkyd composite coating.

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

The Effect of Heat Treatment on the Corrosion Resistance, Mechanical Properties and Wear Resistance of Cr−C Coatings and Cr−C/Al2O3 Composite Coatings Electrodeposited on Low Carbon Steel

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2018
In order to enhance the corrosion resistance, mechanical properties and wear resistance of Cr−C thin films, Cr−C/Al2O3 composite coating is electrodeposited from the Cr(III) plating bath containing Al2O3 particles in this study.

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
