Targeting eRNA‐Producing Super‐Enhancers Regulates TNFα Expression and Mitigates Chronic Inflammation in Mice and Patient‐Derived Immune Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Targeting eRNAs from TNFα‐associated super‐enhancers with ASOs effectively reduces TNFα expression and inflammatory responses in both mouse models and patient‐derived immune cells. The conserved nature of these regulatory regions between species highlights the potential of eRNA‐targeted approaches as a therapeutic strategy for chronic inflammatory ...

Role of concanavalin A lectin in recognition of pterygium remnant after surgical excision: Preliminary results of a prospective study

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2007
Background: Pterygium is one of the most common conjunctival diseases among ophthalmic pathologies. The frequency of recurrences is high, either after surgical treatment or after treatment combined with mitomycin C or beta-radiation therapy. Aims: The

Concanavalin A disrupts the release of fibrous material necessary for zygote formation of a unicellular charophycean alga, Closterium peracerosum-strigosum-littorale complex

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2016
The Closterium peracerosum–strigosum–littorale (C. psl.) complex is the best characterized charophycean alga with respect to the processes of sexual reproduction.

Concanavalin A as a promising lectin-based anti-cancer agent: the molecular mechanisms and therapeutic potential

open access: yesCell Communication and Signaling, 2022
Concanavalin A (ConA), the most studied plant lectin, has been known as a potent anti-neoplastic agent for a long time. Since initial reports on its capacity to kill cancer cells, much attention has been devoted to unveiling the lectin's exact molecular ...

In Vivo Toxicity of Concanavalin A

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1974
SummaryCon A administered intravenously in doses of 200-800 μg produced atrophy of lymphoid tissues, vascular endothelial damage and focal hepatic necrosis. At the highest dose given, up to 30% of the mice died within two days of what appeared to be acute hepatic failure. The injection of up to 2000 μg Con A ip produced only local inflammatory changes.

Metabolic Programming Drives Protective and Inflammatory Monocyte Fates in Viral Encephalitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bone marrow monocytes infiltrate the West Nile virus‐infected brain and differentiate into HIF1‐α⁺ monocyte‐derived cells (MCs) that diverge into protective, antigen‐presenting or inflammatory, iNOS⁺ MCs with distinct metabolic programs and functions.

Cyclic nucleotide specificity of the activator and catalytic sites of a cGMP-stimulated cGMP phosphodiesterase from Dictyostelium discoideum [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
The cellular slime mold Dictyostelium discoideum has an intracellular phosphodiesterase which specifically hydrolyzes cGMP. The enzyme is activated by low cGMP concentrations, and is involved in the reduction of chemoattractant-mediated elevations of ...

Extraction and Purification of Laccases from Rice Stems

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2019
Laccases are found in cell walls of plants in very low amounts. This protocol provides an efficient method to purify laccases from rice stems. The method involves three steps: 1) Isolation of total protein from rice stems using buffers with high salt ...

Quantitative Analysis of Fluorescent Sensor Arrays

open access: yesAnalysis &Sensing, EarlyView.
Fluorescent sensor arrays have great potential for the quantification of analytes in complex systems. Herein, statistical multivariate techniques and deep learning models to provide quantitative information from such arrays are reviewed. Fluorescent sensor arrays address the limitations of a single sensor by leveraging multiple sensing elements to ...
