Getting (un)wasted: How planning failures generate consumer waste across resources: Time, money, goods, and energy

open access: yesConsumer Psychology Review, EarlyView.
Abstract Past research suggests that people exhibit robust waste aversion. However, many consumers routinely feel that they waste not only goods but also time, money, energy, and emotion and would be hard‐pressed to imagine their lives otherwise. Why does consumer waste persist? In this paper, we first propose a definition for consumer waste.

Stimulus specificity in the acquisition and extinction of conditioned taste aversion

open access: yesBiological Research, 2007
An experiment evaluated whether the acquisition and extinction of conditioned taste aversion in the rat is stimulus-specific by testing the degree of response transfer between sweet and salty tastes. Animals in the paired-same and paired-different groups

Kappa Opioid Receptor Agonist Mesyl Sal B Attenuates Behavioral Sensitization to Cocaine with Fewer Aversive Side-Effects than Salvinorin A in Rodents

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
The acute activation of kappa opioid receptors (KOPr) produces antinociceptive and anti-cocaine effects, however, their side-effects have limited further clinical development. Mesyl Sal B is a potent and selective KOPr analogue of Salvinorin A (Sal A), a

Conditioned taste aversion induced by estradiol pellets

open access: yesPhysiology & Behavior, 1991
In two experiments, ovariectomized rats were given a novel diet prior to the implantation of a fused pellet of estradiol (E2 pellet). In short-term (3 weeks) ovariectomized rats, the suppression of food intake induced by estrogen was not affected by the introduction of the novel diet.

Use of Clotrimazole in Finfish Aquaculture: Mechanistic Insights, Limitations, and Future Directions for Antifungal Therapy

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This review critically evaluates clotrimazole as a potential antifungal for finfish aquaculture, highlighting strong mechanistic and in vitro efficacy against aquatic mycoses alongside major gaps in in vivo evidence, toxicokinetics, residue safety, and environmental risk, outlining priorities for responsible therapeutic development and regulatory ...

Effects of localized brain stimulation on conditioned taste aversion in rats

open access: yes, 1977
Conditioned taste aversions occur in rats if ingestion of a novel flavored solution is followed by toxicosis. Previous studies, employing the technique of localized brain stimulation to examine the neural correlates of this behavior, have shown that ...

Context switch effects and Context Experience in Rats' Conditioned Taste Aversion

Sex differences in taste neophobia and conditioned aversion across fluid administration methods

open access: yesFrontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience
Rodent studies of the taste system commonly employ two methods of taste administration (MOA): active licking from spouts or intra-oral cannula (IOC) deliveries.

Pre-Exposure to Flavor and Conditioned Taste Aversion: Amphetamine and Lithium Reinforcers

open access: yes, 1982
The experiment compared the influence of pre-exposure to a .1% saccharin CS on the conditioned taste aversion induced by lithium chloride (.15 M) and by d-amphetamine (2.0 mg/kg) in 44 female Long-Evans hooded rats.

Student and staff experiences of interactive digital models when learning animal anatomy

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract Compared to human medical sciences, digital models of animals are rare, often behind subscription services and are comparatively lacking in interactivity and accessibility features. This study explores how digital models are currently being used to teach animal anatomy, providing the data required to construct the best anatomical models ...
