Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

The non-rational limit of D-series minimal models
We study the limit of D-series minimal models when the central charge tends to a generic irrational value $c\in (-\infty, 1)$. We find that the limit theory's diagonal three-point structure constant differs from that of Liouville theory by a ...

Einstein and Jordan frame correspondence in quantum cosmology: expansion-collapse duality
The conformal correspondence between FLRW universes in the Einstein and Jordan frames allows for an expansion-collapse duality – an always expanding Einstein frame universe can have a dual Jordan frame description that is contracting forever.

Imprint of galactic rotation curves and metric fluctuations on the recombination era anisotropy
In applications of the conformal gravity theory it has been shown that a scale of order 105 Mpc due to large scale inhomogeneities such as clusters of galaxies is imprinted on the rotation curves of galaxies.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Thermodynamics with conformal Killing vector in the charged Vaidya metric
We investigate the charged Vaidya spacetime with conformal symmetry by classifying the horizons and finding its connection to Hawking temperature. We find a conformal Killing vector whose existence requires the mass and electric charge functions to be ...

On marginal operators in boundary conformal field theory
The presence of a boundary (or defect) in a conformal field theory allows one to generalize the notion of an exactly marginal deformation. Without a boundary, one must find an operator of protected scaling dimension ∆ equal to the space-time dimension d ...

The Quantum Regularization of Singular Black-Hole Solutions in Covariant Quantum Gravity
An excruciating issue that arises in mathematical, theoretical and astro-physics concerns the possibility of regularizing classical singular black hole solutions of general relativity by means of quantum theory.
