Cognition and action in construction project organising

open access: yes, 2023
In this chapter we consider the central role of uncertainty for cognition and action in construction project organising – specifically, how project practitioners think about the future. We take a cognitive approach to uncertainty in the context of a broader information processing approach to decision-making in organisations inspired by the Carnegie ...

Dual constructions for partial actions of Hopf algebras [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Algebra, 2016
The duality between partial actions (partial $H$-module algebras) and co-actions (partial $H$-comodule algebras) of a Hopf algebra $H$ is fully explored in this work. A connection between partial (co)actions and Hopf algebroids is established under certain commutativity conditions.

Action-Angle variables for the Gel'fand-Dikii flows

open access: yes, 1997
Using the scattering transform for $n^{th}$ order linear scalar operators, the Poisson bracket found by Gel'fand and Dikii, which generalizes the Gardner Poisson bracket for the KdV hierarchy, is computed on the scattering side.

Irreducible forms for the metric variations of the action terms of sixth-order gravity and approximated stress-energy tensor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We provide irreducible expressions for the metric variations of the gravitational action terms constructed from the 17 curvature invariants of order six in derivatives of the metric tensor i.e.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Frame-like Actions for Massless Mixed-Symmetry Fields in Minkowski space

open access: yes, 2008
A frame-like action for arbitrary mixed-symmetry bosonic massless fields in Minkowski space is constructed. The action is given in a simple form and consists of two terms for a field of any spin.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Object, problem, or subject?: A child with a disability as found in reports of professionals

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Disability Research, 2009
This study examined the representations of one Finnish child with disabilities as constructed in reports written by professionals. The professional action models which appeared in the discourse of the reports were also explored. The theoretical framework

Rigid supersymmetry with boundaries

open access: yes, 2008
We construct rigidly supersymmetric bulk-plus-boundary actions, both in $x$-space and in superspace. For each standard supersymmetric bulk action a minimal supersymmetric bulk-plus-boundary action follows from an extended $F$- or $D$-term formula ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
