Objective analysis of contact lens fit [PDF]

open access: yesContact Lens and Anterior Eye, 2015
To assess the validity and repeatability of objective compared to subjective contact lens fit analysis.Thirty-five subjects (aged 22.0±3.0 years) wore two different soft contact lens designs. Four lens fit variables: centration, horizontal lag, post-blink movement in up-gaze and push-up recovery speed were assessed subjectively (four observers) and ...

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

The 3D nature of a real un-dismantled electrical contact interface

open access: yes, 2015
A 3D contact analysis and modeling suite of tools are developed and introduced in this work. The "3D Contact Map" of an electrical contact interface is presented demonstrating the 3D nature of the contact.

ANALYTICAL AND NUMERICAL METHODS TO OBTAIN CONTACT PATTERN OF CONVEXO-CONCAVE NOVIKOV GEARING [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Journal of Silesian University of Technology. Series Transport, 2014
Article presents analytical and numerical methods to obtain contact pattern of convexo-concave Novikov gearing. Two TCA (tooth contact analysis) methods were given wchich are based on equations of differential geometry. Difference between both of methods

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Analysis of dynamic contact forces for forging manipulator grippers

open access: yes, 2010
A contact model has been presented which assume that the contact forces between the work-piece and the tongs are simplified as the four resultant forces with friction point contact. And the contact forces are calculated based on this contact model.

Frictional contact problem in building constructions analysis

open access: yesMagazine of Civil Engineering, 2020
The article discusses the contact interaction of deformable building constructions or their parts. Such interaction is realized for example at: hydraulic structures; suspension pile foundations, girder, raft, sheet piling; friction bearings and kinematic

An analysis of contact stiffness and frictional receding contacts

open access: yes, 2017
The tangential contact stiffness for ground Ti-6Al-4V surfaces is measured to linearly decrease with the application of tangential load. At the beginning of the application of tangential load, for ground surfaces, the ratio of the tangential contact stiffness to the normal contact stiffness is seen to be approximately half the Mindlin ratio.

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

Effect on oxides on surface topography and thermal contact resistance [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
The effect of oxides on the topographies of various random engineering surfaces and steady-state thermal contact resistances between oxidefree and oxidized metallic surfaces in contact in high vacua have been investigated. The results of many previous
