Identification method of wheel-rail two-point contact state in switch area

open access: yesScientific Reports
Two-point contact is one of the fundamental problems of wheel-rail contact in switch area. The contact state and the distribution of forces are complex and essential points in wheel-rail relationship. Given the problem that the current dynamic wheel-rail

Numerical and Experimental Analysis of Potential Causes Degrading Contact Resistances and Forces of Sensor Connectors for Vehicles

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Faults in vehicle sensor connectors are crucial to the safety of a vehicle. Once the connector is loosened according to the reduction of its contact forces, its electrical contact resistance may be increased, causing unexpected errors in sensor systems ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Gender differences in peak medial joint contact forces during activities of daily living [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ
Women are more likely to suffer from knee osteoarthritis as compared to men. For men and women, greater peak knee medial joint contact force is associated with greater rates of knee osteoarthritis.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Insertion-Withdrawal, Contact Behavior, and Temperature Rise of a Cantilevered Reed-Type Electrical Connector

open access: yesIEEE Access
To achieve the smallest insertion-withdrawal force, the most reliable contact behavior and the lowest temperature rise simultaneously, the insertion-withdrawal, contact behavior and the temperature rise of a cantilever reed type electrical connector are ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...
