From April 1967-December 1968 depot-medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA) a long-acting contraceptive steroid was injected intramuscularly in 150-mg doses every 3 months to 650 women at the Emory University Family Planning Clinic for a total of 5082 women-months of use. No pregnancies occurred.
