Facilitating Preemptive Hardware System Design Using Partial Reconfiguration Techniques
In FPGA-based control system design, partial reconfiguration is especially well suited to implement preemptive systems. In real-time systems, the deadline for critical task can compel the preemption of noncritical one.

Fault-tolerant control under controller-driven sampling using virtual actuator strategy
We present a new output feedback fault tolerant control strategy for continuous-time linear systems. The strategy combines a digital nominal controller under controller-driven (varying) sampling with virtual-actuator (VA)-based controller reconfiguration

A Game-theoretic Formulation of the Homogeneous Self-Reconfiguration Problem [PDF]
In this paper we formulate the homogeneous two- and three-dimensional self-reconfiguration problem over discrete grids as a constrained potential game. We develop a game-theoretic learning algorithm based on the Metropolis-Hastings algorithm that solves ...

Optically Controlled Reconfigurable Filtenna [PDF]
This work is regarding the development of a novel antenna called optically controlled reconfigurable filtenna, which is based on the integration of a broadband printed antenna with a bandpass reconfigurable RF filter. The filter is designed by applying defected microstrip structure (DMS) technique and positioned in printed antenna feeding line in order

Self-tuning run-time reconfigurable PID controller [PDF]
Digital PID control algorithm is one of the most commonly used algorithms in the control systems area. This algorithm is very well known, it is simple, easily implementable in the computer control systems and most of all its operation is very predictable.

Bioinspired Shape‐Memory Hook Fasteners With Programmable Interlocking and Silent Release
Bioinspired hook fasteners made from epoxy shape‐memory polymers are shown to switch between strong, secure attachment and gentle, silent release when heated. By combining programmable geometry and material response, these adaptive fasteners outperform commercial systems in strength and noise control, enabling new solutions for robotics, medical ...

ParaFPGA 2013: Harnessing Programs, Power and Performance in Parallel FPGA applications [PDF]
Future computing systems will require dedicated accelerators to achieve high-performance. The mini-symposium ParaFPGA explores parallel computing with FPGAs as an interesting avenue to reduce the gap between the architecture and the application.

A sequence‐encoded supramolecular construct containing two accessible toeholds is developed herein for enabling multiple editing operations. By introducing specific input strands, it is possible to selectively erase or rewrite digital content through parallel or series toehold‐mediated strand displacement (PTMSD or STMSD).
