Convergence results on the design of QMF banks
IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 1998This correspondence considers the design of quadrature mirror filter (QMF) banks whose analysis and synthesis filters are FIR and have linear phase. The design criterion is of least-squares type. An iterative computation algorithm is proposed, and its convergence is proven that offers new insight to the design of QMF banks and relates it to a more ...

Convergence results for relational Bayesian networks
Proceedings. Thirteenth Annual IEEE Symposium on Logic in Computer Science (Cat. No.98CB36226), 2002Relational Bayesian networks are an extension of the method of probabilistic model construction by Bayesian networks. They define probability distributions on finite relational structures by conditioning the probability of a ground atom r(a/sub 1/, ..., a/sub n/) on first-order properties of a/sub 1/, ..., a/sub n/ that have been established by ...

Asymptotic convergence results
1987Essential to the convergence proof for the homogeneous algorithm is the fact that, under certain conditions, the stationary distribution of a homogeneous Markov chain exists. The stationary distribution is defined as the vector q whose i-th component is given by [FELL50] $${q_i} = \mathop {\lim }\limits_{k \to \infty } \Pr \{ X(k) = i|X(0) = j\} ,$$

Results on the Convergence of Braitenberg Vehicle 3a
Artificial Life, 2014Braitenberg vehicles are well-known models of animal behavior used as steering mechanisms in mobile robotics and artificial life. Because of their simplicity, they are mainly used for teaching robotics, while the lack of a quantitative theory has limited their use for research purposes.

Convergence Results for Harmonic Gradient Estimators
ORSA Journal on Computing, 1994Sensitivity analysis of steady state simulation outputs typically involves estimating gradients. This paper presents convergence results for the harmonic gradient estimators. Sufficient conditions are formulated that validate the interchange of the derivative and the expectation operators for these estimators. The relationship between these estimators

Convergence results in an associative memory model
Neural Networks, 1988Abstract This paper presents rigorous mathematical proofs for some observed convergence phenomena in an associative memory model introduced by Hopfield (based on Hebbian rules) for storing a number of random n-bit patterns. The capability of the model to correct a linear number of random errors in a bit pattern has been established earlier, but

Convergence results in distributed Kalman filtering
2011 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2011The paper studies the convergence properties of the estimation error processes in distributed Kalman filtering for potentially unstable linear dynamical systems. In particular, it is shown that, in a weakly connected communication network, there exist (randomized) gossip based information dissemination schemes leading to a stochastically bounded ...

Convergence results for synchronised communication networks
Proceedings of the 2004 American Control Conference, 2004We present a simplified model of a network of TCP-like sources that compete for a shared bandwidth. We show that: (i) networks of communicating devices operating AIMD congestion control algorithms may be modelled as a positive linear system; (ii) such networks possess a unique stationary point; and (iii) this stationary point is stable.
