Controlling the assembly of cyclotriveratrylene-derived coordination cages [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A review of the emerging field of cyclotriveratrylene-derived coordination cages is presented. Ligand-functionalised cyclotriveratrylene (CTV) derivatives self-assemble with a range of metal cations to afford coordination cages, polymers and ...

Ionothermal Synthesis of Crystalline Nanoporous Silicon and Its Use as Anode Materials in Lithium-Ion Batteries

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2019
Silicon has great potential as an anode material for high-performance lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). This work reports a facile, high-yield, and scalable approach to prepare nanoporous silicon, in which commercial magnesium silicide (Mg2Si) reacted with ...

A Cre‐dependent lentiviral vector for neuron subtype‐specific expression of large proteins

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We designed a versatile and modular lentivector comprising a Cre‐dependent switch and self‐cleaving 2A peptide and tested it for co‐expression of GFP and a 2.8 kb gene of interest (GOI) in mouse cortical parvalbumin (PV+) interneurons and midbrain dopamine (TH+) neurons.

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Metallomacrocycles as ligands: synthesis and characterisation of aluminium-bridged bisglyoximato complexes of palladium and iron [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Dialuminiummacrocycles based on bisglyoximato moieties were prepared and their coordination chemistry with Fe^II and Pd^II was investigated. The bridging aluminium centers were supported by several types of tetradentate diphenoxide diamine ligands.

Cascade alkylarylation of substituted N-allylbenzamides for the construction of dihydroisoquinolin-1(2H)-ones and isoquinoline-1,3(2H,4H)-diones

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2016
An oxidative reaction for the synthesis of 4-alkyl-substituted dihydroisoquinolin-1(2H)-ones with N-allylbenzamide derivatives as starting materials has been developed.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.
