Background/Aims: Chronic Lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is characterized by accumulation of cells in the G0/G1 phase of the cell cycle and resistance to apoptosis due to gene mutation or abnormal gene expression.

Conservation of Arabidopsis thaliana photoperiodic flowering time genes in onion (Allium cepa L.) [PDF]
The genetics underlying onion development is poorly understood. Here the characterisation of onion homologues of Arabidopsis photoperiodic flowering pathway genes is reported with the end goal of accelerating onion breeding programmes by understanding ...

Flowering of Arabidopsis cop1 Mutants in Darkness [PDF]
To elucidate the role of the COP1 gene in flowering, we analyzed flowering of cop1 mutant lines in darkness. When grown in the presence of 1% (w/v) sucrose, the cop1-6 mutant flowered in darkness, but cop1-1 and cop1-4 did not. However, cop1-1 and cop1-4 flowered in darkness when grown in the presence of 5% (w/v) sucrose.

In 2004, COP1 was characterized as p53 E3-specific human ubiquitin ligase according to in vitro studies. Later, oncogenic activity of COP1 and correlation of its overexpression with level of p53 protein in clinical tumor samples and cell lines were shown.

Regulation of transcription by the Arabidopsis UVR8 photoreceptor involves a specific histone modification [PDF]
The photoreceptor UV RESISTANCE LOCUS 8 (UVR8) specifically mediates photomorphogenic responses to UV-B wavelengths. UVR8 acts by regulating transcription of a set of genes, but the underlying mechanisms are unknown. Previous research indicated that UVR8

Photoreceptor Specificity in the Light-Induced and COP1-Mediated Rapid Degradation of the Repressor of Photomorphogenesis SPA2 in Arabidopsis. [PDF]
The Arabidopsis COP1/SPA E3 ubiquitin ligase is a key negative regulator that represses light signaling in darkness by targeting transcription factors involved in the light response for degradation.

SPA Proteins Affect the Subcellular Localization of COP1 in the COP1/SPA Ubiquitin Ligase Complex during Photomorphogenesis [PDF]
The Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) COP1/SPA ubiquitin ligase is a central repressor that suppresses light signaling in darkness by targeting positive regulators of the light response, mainly transcription factors, for degradation. Light inactivates COP1/SPA, in part by excluding COP1 from the nucleus.

Effect of zooplankton-mediated trophic cascades on marine microbial food web components (bacteria, nanoflagellates, ciliates) [PDF]
To examine the grazing effects of copepod-dominated mesozooplankton on heterotrophic microbial communities, four mesocosm experiments using gradients of zooplankton abundance were carried out at a coastal marine site.
