A Silk Fibroin Nanoparticle Hydrogel Loaded With NK1R Antagonist Has Synergistic Anti‐Inflammatory and Reparative Effects on Dry Eye Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops a silk fibroin (SF) nanoparticles hydrogel targeting neurokinin 1 receptor with CP‐99994 (CP). Combining CP and SF to form stable nanoparticles while incorporating a flexible hydrogel material results in a sustained‐release ophthalmic drop formulation (SF@CP@Gel), which provides a long‐lasting ophthalmic formulation with anti ...

Quality of Life Related to Visual Function in Three Young Adults with Mucopolysaccharidoses

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2003
The systemic mucopolysaccharidoses are complex syndromes, which may include corneal clouding as a mechanism leading to decreased vision and hence decreased quality of life.

MOTIVATION AND RECRUITMENT OF PUBLIC SERVANTS - THE ETHOS OR THE MANAGERIAL MODEL? [PDF]

open access: yes
The need to continue the reduction of the state bureaucracy and the orientation towards the managerial models from the private sector, the usage of financial incentive systems, generally in the form of merit base promotion and financial rewards, have ...

Nearly-incompressible transverse isotropy (NITI) of cornea elasticity: model and experiments with acoustic micro-tapping OCE [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The cornea provides the largest refractive power for the human visual system. Its stiffness, along with intraocular pressure (IOP), are linked to several pathologies, including keratoconus and glaucoma. Although mechanical tests can quantify corneal elasticity ex vivo, they cannot be used clinically. Optical coherence elastography (OCE), which launches

Invariants of Lagrangian cobordisms via spectral numbers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We extend parts of the Lagrangian spectral invariants package recently developed by Leclercq and Zapolsky to the theory of Lagrangian cobordism developed by Biran and Cornea. This yields a nondegenerate Lagrangian "spectral metric" which bounds the Lagrangian "cobordism metric" (recently introduced by Cornea and Shelukhin) from below.

ROS‐Responsive Microneedle Patches Enable Peri‐Lacrimal Gland Therapeutic Administration for Long‐Acting Therapy of Sjögren's Syndrome‐Related Dry Eye

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A new strategy for constructing smart gel‐based MN patches is developed to overcome the insufficient drug delivery of eye drops to the lacrimal gland. The gel‐based MN patches achieved long‐acting drug release in a ROS‐responsive manner, and separable base in a temperature‐responsive manner.

Long‐term follow‐up and health‐related quality of life among cancer survivors with stage IEA orbital‐type lymphoma after external photon‐beam radiotherapy: Results from a longitudinal study

open access: yesHematological Oncology, Volume 40, Issue 5, Page 922-929, December 2022., 2022
Abstract We assessed the long‐term outcomes and treatment‐related adverse effects of patients with Stage I, “orbital‐type” lymphomas that were uniformly treated with photons. All consecutive patients diagnosed with low‐grade, Ann Arbor Stage IEA orbital lymphoma treated between 1999 and 2020 at our department were retrospectively reviewed.

Diagnostic features of Acanthamoeba keratitis via in vivo confocal microscopy

open access: yesScientific Reports
In vivo confocal microscopy (IVCM) offers a non-invasive, rapid method for diagnosing Acanthamoeba keratitis (AK) by detecting cysts or trophozoites in the initial clinic visit images.

On the hyperbolic Pennes equation description of the heat pulse-human cornea interaction [PDF]

open access: yesNova Journal of Eye Research vol. 1 p.49-62,2010, 2011
In this paper laser heating of human cornea is investigated. The new heat transport equation in cornea -hyperbolic Pennes equation is formulated and solved. It is shown that for ultra-short laser pulses the thermal energy propagates with finite velocity whereas for parabolic Pennes equation velocity is ...
