Lateral Stiffness, Cornering Stiffness and Relaxation Length of the Pneumatic Tire

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1990
<div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper describes an experimental program of tire research used to quantify the concept of the “relaxation length” of the fully rolling, steered tire. Two methods of developing lateral force are compared for the general car with the result that a first-order differential equation is obtained from which the ...

Identification of cornering stiffness during lane change maneuvers

Proceedings of the 2004 IEEE International Conference on Control Applications, 2004., 2005
The aim of designing an integrated sensor monitoring platform is to monitor all existing sensors and to estimate the vehicle state variables centrally in order to provide the other function components with information about the actual system state and the vehicle dynamics.

The effects of the Cornering Stiffness variation on Articulated Heavy Vehicle stability

2012 IEEE International Conference on Vehicular Electronics and Safety (ICVES 2012), 2012
In this paper, the effects of the Cornering Stiffness (CS) variation on directional stability of the Articulated Heavy Vehicle (AHV) are examined through analysis and simulations. The CS is one of the most important parameter which has a considerable effect on vehicle dynamic behavior.

Influence of the stiffness of corner joint on case furniture deflection

Holz als Roh- und Werkstoff, 1993
The stiffness of corner joints affects the strength of case furniture. The stiffness of corner joint was varied by changing the dowel quantity of case corner joints in this study. At first, the stiffness of corner joint parts was studied by experiments.

Cornering stiffness estimation based on vehicle lateral dynamics

Vehicle System Dynamics, 2006
In this article, the cornering stiffness estimation problem based on the vehicle bicycle (one-track) model is studied. Both time-domain and frequency-domain-based methods are analyzed, aiming to estimate the effective cornering stiffness, defined as the ratio between the lateral force and the slip angle at the two axles.

Measurement method of normalized cornering stiffness

JSAE Review, 2000
This paper presents a measurement method of the normalized equivalent cornering stiffness (normalized Cp), which dominates a vehicle's steering responses. First, the method measures rear normalized Cp from the velocity at which the sign of vehicle slip angle is reversed in steady-state turning. The method is accurate because the velocity is independent

Strength and Stiffness of Lightweight Concrete Corners

ACI Journal Proceedings, 1972
THIS PAPER PRESENTS RESULTS OF TESTS ON 54 REINFORCED LIGHTWEIGHT CONCRETE CORNERS SUBJECTED TO LOADS OPENING THE CORNER (I.E., PRODUCING TENSION ON THE INSIDE) ARE REPORTED. THE EFFECTS OF 28 TYPES OF REINFORCEMENT DETAILS ON ULTIMATE FLEXURAL STRENGTH, STIFFNESS, AND CRACKING WERE STUDIED, AND IT WAS FOUND THAT THE USE OF TWO SETS OF MUTUALLY ...

Usage of the Cornering Stiffness for an Adaptive Rear Wheel Steering Feedforward Control

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2019
This paper presents the usage of additional tire information in the form of cornering stiffness to enhance vehicle handling and stability with an adaptive rear-wheel steering control (RWS). The influence of varying cornering stiffness on driving behavior is discussed in advance with a single-track model.

Research on prediction method of driving/braking stiffness based on tire cornering stiffness

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part D: Journal of Automobile Engineering
Aiming at the problems of long tire development cycles and high testing costs, a prediction method of driving/braking stiffness based on tire cornering stiffness was proposed. Firstly, the detailed finite element model of tire is established and compared with test data. Secondly, a beam model that considers the general deformation expression of carcass
