Predictive Capabilities of Corotating Interaction Regions Using STEREO and Wind In‐Situ Observations
Space Weather, 2022 Solar wind stream interaction regions (SIRs) and corotating interaction regions (CIRs) can cause geomagnetic storms and change energetic particle environment, ionospheric composition on Earth.

Solar wind stream interaction regions throughout the heliosphere [PDF]
Living Reviews in Solar Physics, 2018 This paper focuses on the interactions between the fast solar wind from coronal holes and the intervening slower solar wind, leading to the creation of stream interaction regions that corotate with the Sun and may persist for many solar rotations. Stream

Manifestation of solar wind corotating interaction regions in GCR intensity variations
Solar-Terrestrial Physics, 2023 The regions of interaction between solar wind streams of different speed, known as corotating interaction regions, form an almost constantly existing structure of the inner heliosphere.

Orientation of the stream interface in CIRs
Journal of Space Weather and Space Climate, 2023 Corotating Interaction Regions (CIRs) are complex structures in the Heliosphere that arise from the interaction of fast and slow solar wind streams.

Empirical Forecast of Corotating Interacting Regions and Geomagnetic Storms Based on Coronal Hole Information [PDF]
Journal of Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2009 In this study, we suggest an empirical forecast of CIR (Corotating Interaction Regions) and geomagnetic storm based on the information of coronal holes (CH). For this we used CH data obtained from He I 10830 Å maps at National Solar Observatory-Kitt Peak

The Astrophysical Journal, 2023 The study reports the first detection of corotating interaction regions (CIRs) in the solar wind by the differential one-way range (DOR) signals transmitted by Tianwen-1. Differential phase delay is calculated for the DOR signals. Variations of the total

Differences in the response to CME and CIR drivers of geomagnetic disturbances
Solar-Terrestrial Physics, 2023 Utilizing 1-minute resolution data on the geomagnetic indices SYM-H, AE, solar wind parameters (velocity Vsw and density Np), and z-component Bz of the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) during solar cycles 23 and 24, we have statistically analyzed the ...

Diagnostics of corotating interaction regions with the kinetic properties of iron ions as determined with STEREO/PLASTIC [PDF]
Annales Geophysicae, 2010 STEREO/PLASTIC determines three-dimensional distributions of solar wind iron ions with unprecedented time resolution. Typically 300 to 1000 counts are registered within each 5 min time interval.

Global geomagnetic responses to the IMF Bz fluctuations during the September/October 2003 high-speed stream intervals [PDF]
Annales Geophysicae, 2017 In this paper, we follow the coupling from the solar wind to the Earth's magnetotail, geosynchronous orbit, auroral zone and to the ground, during periods of Alfvénic fluctuations in high-speed solar wind streams (HSSs) and their corotating ...
