Stream interaction regions (SIRs) are common solar wind structures that mainly drive moderate geomagnetic storms, especially during the declining and minimum phases of the solar cycle. Despite substantial progress in identifying their solar wind drivers,

Resource-aware mining of data streams [PDF]
Mining data streams has raised a number of research challenges for the data mining community. These challenges include the limitations of computational resources, especially because mining streams of data most likely be done on a mobile device with ...

GALACTIC COSMIC-RAY INTENSITY MODULATION BY COROTATING INTERACTION REGION STREAM INTERFACES AT 1 au
ABSTRACT We present a new model that couples galactic cosmic-ray (GCR) propagation with magnetic turbulence transport and the MHD background evolution in the heliosphere. The model is applied to the problem of the formation of corotating interaction regions (CIRs) during the last solar minimum from the period between 2007 and 2009.

Radial Evolution of Effective Polytropic Index in Stream Interaction Regions from PSP to MAVEN
Stream interaction regions (SIRs) are key large-scale structures in the solar wind that regulate the transport of mass, momentum, and energy across the heliosphere.

Using sunRunner3D to interpret the global structure of the heliosphere from in situ measurements
Understanding the large-scale three-dimensional structure of the inner heliosphere, while important in its own right, is crucial for space weather applications, such as forecasting the time of arrival and propagation of coronal mass ejections (CMEs ...

Observations of long-lived solar wind streams during 1990-1993
Interplanetary scintillation (IPS) can be used to identify changes in solar wind parameters over a wide range in heliographic latitude and elongation and constrain models of its large-scale structure, velocity and density.

An apparently successful identification of a comet-tail feature with a solar-wind event is presented. Photographs of comet Kohoutek 1973f show a large-scale disturbance in the middle and outer regions of the ion tail early on January 20 of 1974. On the previous and succeeding days the comet had, however, a 'normal' and less active appearance.

In the solar wind, the fluctuation of heavy ion abundance serves as a crucial physical metric. This not only mirrors the attributes of the solar wind’s originating solar region but also signifies its influence on Earth’s magnetosphere.
