Corpus striatum and traumatic brain injury

Brain Injury, 1997
The possibility of a 'subcortical' syndrome differentially affecting memory in traumatic brain injury (TBI) subjects was examined. Magnetic resonance imaging scans of 46 traumatic brain injured male patients were compared with those of 34 male control subjects. Surface area measurements of the corpus striatum were calculated for both groups.

Release of endogenous dopamine from corpus striatum

Life Sciences, 1978
Abstract The release of endogenous dopamine from a chopped rat striatal preparation was measured using a sensitive radio-enzymatic assay for dopamine. Either KC1 or d-amphetamine stimulated significant release of dopamine which was easily detected within one minute in this system.

Effect of borneol, moschus, storax, and acorus tatarinowii on expression levels of four amino acid neurotransmitters in the rat corpus striatum

Neural Regeneration Research, 2012
The present study collected cerebrospinal fluid samples from the corpus striatum in rats treated with borneol, moschus, storax, and acorus tatarinowii using brain microdialysis technology.

Effects of wind-dispelling drugs and deficiency-nourishing drugs of Houshiheisan compound prescription on astrocyte activation and inflammatory factor expression in the corpus striatum of cerebral ischemia rats

Neural Regeneration Research, 2012
This study explored protective effects of Houshiheisan and its compound prescription of wind-dispelling drugs and deficiency-nourishing drugs on cerebral ischemia in terms of astrocyte activation and inflammatory factor expression. Results suggested that

[Compartmentalized organization of human corpus striatum].

Revista de neurologia, 1999
The compartmentalization of the human striatum was first established thanks to the pioneer work of Graybiel and Ragsdale in 1978. These authors described in the human striatum, as well as in the cats and primates, zones poorly stained for the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, which they termed striosomes, that lie in more intensely stained matrix.

Synaptogenesis in the corpus striatum of infant rat

Experimental Neurology, 1973
Abstract The corpus striatum of neonatal rats was examined by electron microscopy. Buffered 4% glutaraldehyde injected intraventricularly was used as the fixative. With this method the developing nerve endings could be divided into two broad categories: those with common round vesicles making asymmetrical contacts; and those with pleomorphic vesicles

The venous system of the corpus striatum

Neuroradiology, 1973
The draining system of the corpus striatum is constituted of: a) the caudate veins of variable morphology but constantly present; b) the superior striate veins that are thin and almost inconstant; c) the anteroinferior striate veins, rather constant thin vessels; d) the postero-inferior striate veins, small inconstant perforating vessels.
