Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Influence of pump-phase fluctuations on entanglement generation using a correlated spontaneous-emission laser [PDF]
Journals published by the American Physical Society can be found at http://publish.aps.org/In this paper, we study the effect of phase fluctuations of the pump field upon the entanglement generation in a two-photon correlated emission laser (CEL).

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Private Sunspots and Idiosyncratic Investor Sentiment [PDF]
This paper shows how rational investors can have different degrees of optimism regarding the prospects of the economy, even if they share exactly the same information regarding all economic fundamentals.

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Non-linear isocurvature perturbations and non-Gaussianities [PDF]
24 pagesWe study non-linear primordial adiabatic and isocurvature perturbations and their non-Gaussianity. After giving a general formulation in the context of an extended $\delta N$ formalism, we analyse in detail two illustrative examples. The first is

Strongly correlated superconductivity with long-range spatial fluctuations
We review recent studies for superconductivity using diagrammatic extensions of dynamical mean field theory. These approaches take into account simultaneously both, the local correlation effect and spatial long-range fluctuations, which are essential to ...
