AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Characterization of Compressible Fluctuations in Solar Wind Streams Dominated by Balanced and Imbalanced Turbulence: Parker Solar Probe, Solar Orbiter, and Wind Observations

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Characterizing compressible fluctuations in the solar wind is essential for understanding their role in solar wind acceleration and heating, yet their origin and evolution across different turbulence regimes remain poorly understood.

Persistent global power fluctuations near a dynamic transition in electroconvection

open access: yes, 2003
This is a study of the global fluctuations in power dissipation and light transmission through a liquid crystal just above the onset of electroconvection. The source of the fluctuations is found to be the creation and annihilation of defects.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Correlations and fluctuations - Introduction

open access: yes, 2001
A rewiew of the development of formalism to describe correlations and fluctuations in multiparticle production is presented. The milestones of history of this development and some obvious sources of correlations in experimental data are recalled. Some recent subjects concerning the correlations are shortly discussed.

Diurnal oscillations of amino acids dynamically associate with microbiota and resistome in the colon of pigs

open access: yesAnimal Microbiome
Background Nutrients are one of the key determinants of gut microbiota variation. However, the intricate associations between the amino acid (AA) profile and the dynamic fluctuations in the gut microbiota and resistome remain incompletely elucidated ...

Mapping dynamical heterogeneity in structural glasses to correlated fluctuations of the time variables

open access: yes, 2011
Dynamical heterogeneities -- strong fluctuations near the glass transition -- are believed to be crucial to explain much of the glass transition phenomenology.

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Running modulates primate and rodent visual cortex differently

open access: yeseLife
When mice run, activity in their primary visual cortex (V1) is strongly modulated. This observation has altered conceptions of a brain region assumed to be a passive image processor.
