Statistics of Coulomb blockade peak spacings for a partially open dot

open access: yes, 1999
We show that randomness of the electron wave functions in a quantum dot contributes to the fluctuations of the positions of the conductance peaks. This contribution grows with the conductance of the junctions connecting the dot to the leads.

Two-mode squeezed vacuum and squeezed light in correlated interferometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We study in detail a system of two interferometers aimed to the detection of extremely faint phase-fluctuations. This system can represent a breakthrough for detecting a faint correlated signal that would remain otherwise undetectable even using the most

Financial Burden Associated With Hospitalisation Among Families of Childhood Brain Tumours in Australia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Families of children with cancer experience significant financial strain, even with universal healthcare. Indirect costs, such as productivity losses and non‐medical expenses, are rarely included in economic evaluations, and little is known about how effectively financial aid programmes alleviate this burden. Childhood brain tumours

Opposing effects of intrinsic conductance and correlated synaptic input on Vm-fluctuations during network activity

open access: yesFrontiers in Computational Neuroscience, 2012
Neurons often receive massive concurrent bombardment of synaptic inhibition and excitation during functional network activity. This increases membrane conductance and causes fluctuations in membrane potential (Vm) and spike timing.

Correlated Hybrid Fluctuations from Inflation with Thermal Dissipation

open access: yes, 2003
We investigate the primordial scalar perturbations in the thermal dissipative inflation where the radiation component (thermal bath) persists and the density fluctuations are thermally originated.

The Fate (Outcome) of Clinically Apparent Single Lesion and Oligofocal Nephroblastomatosis Treated According to SIOP/GPOH Protocols for Wilms Tumor

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background The management of clinically apparent single lesions or oligofocal nephroblastomatosis, a facultative precursor of nephroblastoma, remains debated. Methods We retrospectively analyzed 37 patients with clinically apparent single or oligofocal nephroblastomatosis (two to three lesions per kidney) among 2347 patients registered between

Correlation time for step structural fluctuations [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 2005
Time dependent STM has been used to evaluate step fluctuations as a function of temperature (300-450 K) on Ag(111) films grown on mica. The temporal correlation function scales as a power law in time, t^1/n with measured values of 1/n varying over a range of 0.19 pm 0.04 to 0.29 pm 0.04 with no dependence on temperature. The average value of 1/n = 0.24

Correlated interaction fluctuations in photosynthetic complexes

open access: yes, 2011
The functioning and efficiency of natural photosynthetic complexes is strongly influenced by their embedding in a noisy protein environment, which can even serve to enhance the transport efficiency.
