Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Enhancing Hediste diversicolor aquaculture production: Density and feeding rate as key variables for intensive production management

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society
This study analyzes the effect of density on growth and feeding rate in Hediste diversicolor. In a first trial, specimens ranging in size from 10 to 500 mg were fed for 15 days at apparent satiety at eight stocking densities ranging from 500 to 16,000 ...

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Independent predictors of quality of life in patients with chronic heart failure

open access: yesRevista de la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas de Córdoba
Introduction: Objective measurement of Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) has proven useful in evaluating the effectiveness of medical management and its potential as a predictor of mortality and rehospitalization in patients with heart failure (HF).

Prescription and the cost of laboratory tests for patients admitted to two hospitals of Kashan University of Medical Sciences in the Covid 19 pandemic

open access: yesPayesh, 2022
Objective (s): Laboratory tests, despite their essential role in the diagnosis and management of many diseases, are often costly. Therefore, this study investigated the prescription and the cost of tests for patients admitted to two hospitals of Kashan ...

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

switching costs

open access: yes, 2008
Switching costs arise when transactions, learning, or pecuniary costs are incurred by a user who changes suppliers (including for ‘follow-on’ or ‘aftermarket’ products such as refills and repairs). The ex post market power that switching costs give suppliers need not create inefficiencies, and early ‘bargain’ prices can compensate consumers for later ...
