The Debye length and the running coupling of QCD: A potential and phenomenological approach [PDF]
In this paper, one uses a damped potential to present a description of the running coupling constant of QCD in the confinement phase. Based on a phenomenological perspective for the Debye screening length, one compares the running coupling obtained here with both the Brodsky–de Téramond–Deur and the Richardson approaches.

Effects of silane coating on the properties of glass fibre and glass fibre reinforced epoxy resin [PDF]
Single fibre tensile testing and microbond testing have been used to benchmark the influence of silane coupling agents on the performance of glass fibre for reinforced epoxy resin composites.

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

Unraveling the ultra-broadband beam splitter based on parallel coupled waveguides
An ultra-broadband beam splitter is theoretically realized using a directional parallel-cascaded coupled-waveguide structure, which is designed and investigated with the effective medium method and finite-difference time-domain method. The 1 dB bandwidth

We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Laser pulse propagation and enhanced energy coupling to fast electrons in dense plasma gradients
Laser energy absorption to fast electrons during the interaction of an ultra-intense (10 ^20 W cm ^−2 ), picosecond laser pulse with a solid is investigated, experimentally and numerically, as a function of the plasma density scale length at the ...

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

Design of polarization splitter using elliptically dual core – Cladding photonic crystal fiber
In this work, the polarization splitter using dual-core elliptically cladding photonic crystal fiber is numerically investigated. The design features the polarization inducement with four distinct modes known as even and odd mode in X-polarization and Y ...
