Harnessing microbial metabolism and nutrition to target the gut–mammary axis for better livestock production and health

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
The gut–mammary axis integrates intestinal health with mammary function through neural, endocrine, and immune pathways. Nutritional interventions (probiotics, prebiotics, metabolites) improve gut microecology, generating microbial signals that travel via the axis to the mammary gland. There, they relieve inflammation, enhance milk quality and lactation,

Impact of milk consumption patterns on cow's milk sensitization and allergy in at-risk children

open access: yesWorld Allergy Organization Journal
Background: Cow's milk allergy is the most common food allergy in infants. While early peanut consumption can reduce peanut allergy risk, the effects of cow's milk formula consumption patterns on milk sensitization and allergy are not well understood ...

open access: yesRevista Alergia México, 2014
Background: The cow’s milk protein allergy is the most common food allergy among children under two years and is associated with other atopic diseases. Objective: To evaluate cow’s milk protein allergy frequency in patients sensitized to them, attended ...

European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition/North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition guidelines for treatment of functional constipation in children aged 0–18 years

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives Functional constipation (FC) is common in childhood, significantly impacting quality of life. Since the 2014 international guideline, new evidence has been published, and methods on making guidelines have developed. Sequence of Immunological Events During IgE‐Mediated Allergic Reactions to Food

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Food allergies (FA) represent a significant global health burden. Upon allergen re‐exposure, allergic patients exhibit a sequence of symptoms that vary in terms of affected organ systems, severity, time of onset and allergen reactivity thresholds.

International Guideline on the Diagnosis and Management of Pediatric Patients With Hereditary Angioedema

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hereditary angioedema (HAE) with C1 inhibitor deficiency is a rare disease characterized by unpredictable episodes of tissue swelling (angioedema), which, in most cases, occur first under the age of 18 years, and entail a significant burden of disease not only for the patients but also for their families.

Epigenome-wide association study links site-specific DNA methylation changes with cow’s milk allergy

open access: yes, 2016
[[abstract]]Summary We demonstrates that DNA methylation alterations at multiple genes, including those in the TH1-TH2 pathways and some novel genes, are associated with cow’s milk allergy (CMA), which shed new light on the epigenetic underpinnings of ...

Iron Physiology and Its Impact on Atopic Diseases: An EAACI Taskforce Report

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Iron is essential for oxygen transport, energy metabolism, and immune regulation. Yet iron deficiency is the most common micronutrient disorder across all age groups, affecting nearly one quarter of the global population. Iron deficiency triggers nutritional immunity, a host defense mechanism that withholds and redistributes iron, contributing

Current experience in the use of amino acid-based formula in children

open access: yesZdorovʹe Rebenka, 2021
Amino acid-based formulas (AAFs) are similar to most other infant kinds of milk except for one important difference. Instead of containing whole or broken down cow’s milk protein, they contain amino acids.

Optimising the Diagnosis of Sesame Seed Allergy With the Basophil Activation Test

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
The basophil activation test (using the activation marker CD203c) was the only test able to both exclude and confirm sesame seed allergy with precision. A negative skin prick test to sesame extract or tahini and undetectable IgE to Ses i 1 could not rule out sesame seed allergy.
