YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Corrosion Fatigue Crack Propagation Behaviour of a High Strength Low Alloy Steel in a Synthetic Sea Water Environment. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
The corrosion fatigue crack propagation behaviour of a high strength low alloy steel, N-A-XTRA 70, in a synthetic sea water solution was tested using S. E. N. specimens subjected to a loading frequency of 0.1 Hz and a load ratio of 0.6.

Influence of roughness on the mechanical response of rock-like specimens with nonpersistent joints under uniaxial compression based on joint deformation analysis

open access: yesUnderground Space
Joint deformation is a key factor controlling the mechanical behavior of discontinuous rock strata under changing stress conditions, including dominating the elastic deformation in near-surface excavations and serving as a major component of settlement ...

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

The crystal structure of the Borrelia burgdorferi nicotinamidase BBE22 resolves a long‐standing annotation error

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of Borrelia burgdorferi nicotinamidase (PncA/BBE22) reveals the correct full‐length protein initiated from a non‐canonical AUU start codon. The structure validates previous biochemical findings and resolves a long‐standing annotation error, demonstrating that the truncated database sequence is structurally incompatible with the ...

Modeling of creep-fatigue interaction effects on crack growth at elevated temperatures

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
The well-known load frequency effect on creep-fatigue crack growth is explained by the interactions between fatigue and creep loading and is quantified using the concept of plasticity-induced crack closure.

EFFECTS OF CRACK MORPHOLOGY AND CLOSURE ON ULTRASONIC RESPONSE

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2009
Progress is reported on the development of tools for the study of the influence of crack morphology and closure on ultrasonic inspection response. An in‐situ phased array sector scan is described for the monitoring of crack responses under load, and results are presented showing the anticipated dependence of signal amplitude on crack closure.

Hyperosmotic stress‐induced redistribution of pre‐mRNA cleavage factor I subunits is associated with shifts in alternative polyadenylation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...

Residual Stress Effect on Crack Closure in Additively Manufactured Stainless Steels

open access: yes
Super duplex stainless steels (SDSS) are extensively used in oil and gas, marine, and chemical process industries. Recently, wire-arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) has been demonstrated as an attractive method for fabricating near net-shape structural ...

Aging Is a Key Driver for Adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a classical age‐related hematologic malignancy, and a key driver of AML is aging, which profoundly regulates intrinsic factors such as genomic instability, epigenetic reprogramming, and metabolic dysregulation, and alters bone marrow microenvironment.
