On the crack-tip asymptotic fields
Abstract Analytical expression between the vectorial stress intensity factor (SIF) and displacement discontinuity intensity factor (DDIF) is derived for an arbitrary shaped plane crack with a smooth crack boundary. The crack is placed in an elastic anisotropic medium with monoclinic symmetry (syngonium).

Higher-order analysis of crack tip fields in elastic power-law hardening materials [PDF]
A HIGHER-ORDER asymptotic analysis of a stationary crack in an elastic power-law hardening material has been carried out for plane strain, Mode 1. The extent to which elasticity affects the near-tip fields is determined by the strain hardening exponent n.

Crack Tip Radius Effect on Fatigue Crack Growth and Near Tip Fields in Plastically Compressible Materials [PDF]
Motivated by the prospective uses of plastically compressible materials such as, metallic and polymeric foams, transformation toughened ceramics, toughened structural polymers etc., the present authors investigate the crack-tip radius effect on fatigue ...

Experience in modeling inclined cracks in materials with cubic crystal structure
In this work, a good coincidence of atomistic and continuum stress fields at the crack tip under mixed mode loading conditions in an anisotropic medium with cubic symmetry of elastic properties is revealed. The atomic stress distributions associated with

The characterization of a crack-tip field
The stress intensity factor, K, has been successfully used as a measure of fracture toughness, and stress intensity factor range, Delta K, correlates well with the fatigue crack growth rate. This paper gives a deductive logic to demonstrate rigorously that, in the case of small-scale yielding, K and Delta K are capable of characterizing the elastic ...

Experimental methodology for the quantification of crack tip plastic zone and shape from the analysis of displacement fields [PDF]
The current work presents a novel methodology for the experimental quantification of the crack tip plastic zone during fatigue crack growth. This methodology is based on the application of yield criteria to estimate the area and the shape of the plastic ...

Crack Tip Fields with Strain Gradient Effects [PDF]
In this paper, a kind of strain gradient theory proposed by Chen and Wang (2001) is briefly introduced and is used to analyze the crack tip field in homogeneous materials and interface crack tip field with the help of finite element methods.

Crack tip fields in ductile crystals [PDF]
Results on the asymptotic analysis of crack tip fields in elastic-plastic single crystals are presented and some preliminary results of finite element solutions for cracked solids of this type are summarized. In the cases studied, involving plane strain tensile and anti-plane shear cracks in ideally plastic f c c and b c c crystals, analyzed within ...
