tBid‐Mediated Genetic Ablation of Connective Tissue Cells Reveals Their Key Regulatory Function During Limb Regeneration in Axolotls

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We establish a tBid‐mediated cell ablation system in axolotls, achieve rapid and efficient ablation of multiple cell types, including muscle stem cell, spinal cord cell, and connective tissue (CT) cells. We investigate the role of CT using tBid‐mediated CT ablation and identify its essential role for limb development and regeneration.

Climate Change and Economic Sustainability: Empirical Evidence on the Dynamics of Adjusted Net Savings in Benin's Regions

open access: yesClimate Resilience and Sustainability
The economic sustainability of territories is a key issue in ensuring the well‐being of future generations. In accordance with the neoclassical theoretical approach, this article analyzes the dynamics of adjusted net savings (ANSs) in Benin's regions in ...

Schooling Trajectories and the Development of Brain Dynamics: A Comparative Study of Montessori and Traditional Education

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We investigate whether Montessori and traditional schooling systems shape the developmental trajectory of large‐scale brain dynamics in different ways. We quantify the arrow of time (“non‐reversibility”) in neural activity during resting state and movie‐watching, revealing distinct maturational patterns.

Conditional mutagenesis in the immune system: targeting the expression of the iCre2 recombinase to neutrophils and macrophages

open access: yes, 2010
Conditional mutagenesis allows the introduction of tissue specific mutations in the mouse and is of crucial importance in converting genome sequence information into functional data for biomedical research.

Materials‐Guided Gene‐Ionizable Lipid Nanoparticles to Reverse Iron‐Associated Immune Resistance in Renal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Iron overload is a common metabolic disturbance in cancer and contributes to poor outcomes in renal cell carcinoma (RCC), yet its effects on the tumour immune microenvironment remain unclear. Here we identify a previously unrecognized immunosuppressive axis in which iron overload downregulates the palmitoyltransferase ZDHHC12 in CD8+ T cells ...

Interlayer‐Sliding‐Enabled Multiferroicity and Giant Switchable Anomalous Hall Conductivity in RuO2Zn2F2 Bilayer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Interlayer sliding in the RuO2Zn2F2 bilayer induces ferroelectricity and enables reversible valley polarization switching. The electric dipole and valley‐resolved band edges are intimately coupled, revealing sliding ferroelectricity as a powerful mechanism for electrical control of valley degrees of freedom in 2D materials.

Conditional strategies to study gene function during gonadal development in mammals.

open access: yes, 2008
Sexual development in mammals involves a complex cascade of genetic events. These begin with a cell fate decision, whether to make Sertoli or follicle cells, that gives rise to the development of a male or female gonad, which is controlled by the testis ...

Cre-mediated recombinant expression in an Ai14;RPE-Tyrosinase-CreErT2 embryo section.

open access: yes, 2018
A: Fluorescent image of tdTomato expression in longitudinal embryo sections stained with DAPI (blue) showing that Cre activity is restricted to the eye. B: Higher magnification of the eye region in A shows high specificity for the RPE. Scale bar: (A) 500
