Cannabidiol and cannabigerol ameliorate steatotic liver disease via phosphocreatine buffering and lysosomal restoration

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 12, Page 3173-3194, June 2026.
Cannabidiol (CBD) and cannabigerol (CBG) alleviate hepatic steatosis in obese mice by shifting energy buffering towards phosphocreatine and enhancing lysosomal lipid degradation and trafficking. These effects are associated with increased creatine kinase activity and lysobisphosphatidic acid (LBPA) levels, highlighting a previously unrecognised ...

Obstructive sleep apnoea is associated with accelerated progression of diabetic kidney disease

open access: yesDiabetic Medicine, Volume 43, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Aim Persons with type 2 diabetes and diabetic kidney disease (DKD) are at high risk of end‐stage kidney disease or death. We investigated the possible contribution of obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) to decline in kidney function and renal outcomes.

Integrative Advances in Equine Genomics From Reference Assemblies to Evolutionary History and Key Traits

open access: yesEvolutionary Applications, Volume 19, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Horses are major domestic animals and cultural symbols that have accompanied humans for millennia. They underpin transport, agriculture, warfare and sport, and also provide a model for studying domestication, complex traits and adaptive evolution.

Anti‐cancer drugs targeting the NADH‐binding site of VDAC rewire channel electrophysiology and partially suppress cation selectivity

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 12, Page 3663-3682, June 2026.
VA molecules alter VDAC1 gating by increasing anion flow and reducing cation permeability. In cancer cells, which rely on ER‐mitochondria Ca2+ transfer and overexpress VDAC1, this imbalance triggers bioenergetic stress, ROS buildup, and mitochondrial collapse, leading to cell death.

Bottom‐Up Coacervate‐Based Artificial Cells: Integrating Cellular Hallmarks into Complex Life‐Like Systems

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 22, 25 May 2026.
Current interest in artificial cell research underscores its potential to deepen our understanding of life's fundamental processes. This review highlights advances in bottom‐up coacervate‐based artificial cell engineering via combined integration of cellular hallmarks.

Restoration of Creatine Transporter Function in a Creatine Transporter Deficient Mouse Model: A Dosage Study

open access: yes
Creatine deficiency syndromes are inborn errors of creatine metabolism, which result in impaired synthesis and transport of creatine. Under normal physiological conditions creatine is synthesized and released into the blood stream to provide cellular energy. Creatine transporters facilitate the movement of creatine against large concentration gradients

Potential Relationship Between YTHDF3 and CFTR in Myocardial Ischemia–Reperfusion Injury

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 30, Issue 11, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Myocardial ischemia–reperfusion injury (MIRI) is a common pathophysiological process in reperfusion therapy following myocardial infarction. It exacerbates myocardial damage and negatively impacts patient prognosis. This study aims to explore potential regulatory targets and related mechanisms in MIRI.

Targeting DNMT1 Attenuates Radiation‐Induced Heart Disease: An Integrated Multiomic and Functional Study

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 10, 31 May 2026.
Our study elucidates that DNMT1 promotes radiation‐induced heart disease by orchestrating aberrant epigenetic regulation and impairing cardioprotective signaling. Inhibition of DNMT1 mitigates this damage, revealing a translatable strategy to prevent RIHD.
