Absorption and Screening in Phycomyces [PDF]
In vivo absorption measurements were made through the photosensitive zones of Phycomyces sporangiophores and absorption spectra are presented for various growth media and for wavelengths between 400 and 580 mµ.

Concentration Phenomena for Fractional Elliptic Equations Involving Exponential Critical Growth [PDF]
In this paper, we deal with the singular perturbed fractional elliptic problem ε(-Δ)1/2u+V(z)u=f(u)$\varepsilon(-\Delta)^{1/2}{u}+V(z)u=f(u)$ in ℝ$\mathbb{R}$, where (-Δ)1/2u${(-\Delta)^{1/2}u}$ is the square root of the Laplacian and f(s)${f(s)}$

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Super-Arrhenius dynamics for sub-critical crack growth in disordered brittle media
Taking into account stress fluctuations due to thermal noise, we study thermally activated irreversible crack growth in disordered media. The influence of material disorder on sub-critical growth of a single crack in two-dimensional brittle elastic ...

Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Fractional elliptic systems with nonlinearities of arbitrary growth
In this article we discuss the existence, uniqueness and regularity of solutions of the following system of coupled semilinear Poisson equations on a smooth bounded domain $\Omega$ in $\mathbb{R}^n$: $$\displaylines{ \mathcal{A}^s u= v^p \quad\text ...

The Caenorhabditis elegans DPF‐3 and human DPP4 have tripeptidyl peptidase activity
The dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) family comprises serine proteases classically defined by their ability to remove dipeptides from the N‐termini of substrates, a feature that gave the family its name. Here, we report the discovery of a previously unrecognized tripeptidyl peptidase activity in DPPIV family members from two different species.

Existence of positive solutions to perturbed nonlinear Dirichlet problems involving critical growth
We consider the following perturbed nonlinear elliptic problem with critical growth $$\displaylines{ -\varepsilon^2\Delta u+V(x)u=f(x)|u|^{p-2}u +\frac{\alpha}{\alpha+\beta}K(x)|u|^{\alpha-2}u|v|^\beta,\quad x\in \mathbb{R}^N,\cr -\varepsilon^2 ...

The role and implications of mammalian cellular circadian entrainment
At their most fundamental level, mammalian circadian rhythms occur inside every individual cell. To tell the correct time, cells must align (or ‘entrain’) their circadian rhythm to the external environment. In this review, we highlight how cells entrain to the major circadian cues of light, feeding and temperature, and the implications this has for our
