Emerging role of ARHGAP29 in melanoma cell phenotype switching

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study gives first insights into the role of ARHGAP29 in malignant melanoma. ARHGAP29 was revealed to be connected to tumor cell plasticity, promoting a mesenchymal‐like, invasive phenotype and driving tumor progression. Further, it modulates cell spreading by influencing RhoA/ROCK signaling and affects SMAD2 activity. Rho GTPase‐activating protein

Clinical Outcomes of Repeated Corneal Crosslinking for Progressive Keratoconus After Failure of Primary Procedure; Safety and Efficacy at 12-Month Follow-Up

open access: yesOphthalmology and Therapy
Introduction This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of repeated corneal cross-linking (CXL) in patients with progressive keratoconus who have undergone an unsuccessful primary epithelium-off (epi-off) CXL procedure. Additionally, it compares

Dynamic-Cross-Linked, Regulated, and Controllable Mineralization Degree and Morphology of Collagen Biomineralization

open access: yesJournal of Functional Biomaterials
The cross-linking process of collagen is one of the more important ways to improve the mineralization ability of collagen. However, the regulatory effect of dynamic cross-linking on biomineralization in vitro remains unclear.

A Scaling Theory of the Competition between Interdiffusion and Cross-Linking at Polymer Interfaces

open access: yes, 2002
We study theoretically situations where competition arises between an interdiffusion process and a cross-linking chemical reaction at interfaces between pieces of the same polymer material. An example of such a situation is observable in the formation of

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

In-situ cross linking of polyvinyl alcohol [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
A method of producing a crosslinked polyvinyl alcohol structure, such as a battery separator membrane or electrode envelope is described. An aqueous solution of a film-forming polyvinyl alcohol is admixed with an aldehyde crosslinking agent a basic pH to

Cross-linking patterns and their images in swollen and deformed gels

open access: yes, 2015
Using the theory of elasticity of polymer gels we show that large-scale cross-link density patterns written into the structure of the network in the melt state, can be revealed upon swelling by monitoring the monomer density patterns.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).
