Cross-linking of dermal sheep collagen using a water-soluble carbodiimide [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
A cross-linking method for collagen-based biomaterials was developed using the water-soluble carbodiimide 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethyl aminopropyl)carbodiimide hydrochloride (EDC).

Reversible cross-linking of gelatin by a disulphide-containing bis-succinimide for tunable degradation and release

open access: yesFood Chemistry: X, 2023
Generally, gelatin was irreversibly cross-linked by chemical reagents to improve its water-resistance. However, few chemical reagents meet both the requirements of high cross-inking efficiency and tunable degradation.

Heterobifunctional reagents for cross-linking of sugar with protein.

open access: yesChemical and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 1985
N-Bromoacetylsulfanilyl chloride and p-bromoacetamidobenzoyl chloride were synthesized as heterobifunctional reagents for the cross-linking of sugar with protein. These reagents react with the primary hydroxyl group of a sugar at the acid chloride group and with amino and imidazole groups of protein at the bromoacetyl group.

INVESTIGATIONS ON THE EFFECT OF SODIUM TRIMETAPHOSPHATE AND SODIUM SULFATE CONCENTRATIONS ON THE PROPERTIES OF CROSS-LINKED CASSAVA STARCH FILMS [PDF]

open access: yesQuímica Nova
Films based on pure native starch have limited applications, are easily breakable, very hygroscopic, and permeable to water vapor. One method for improving these properties is to modify starch by cross-linking.

Mol. Cell. Proteomics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Chemical cross-linking in combination with mass spectrometric analysis offers the potential to obtain low-resolution structural information from proteins and protein complexes. Identification of peptides connected by a cross-link provides direct evidence

XPS Characterization of Friedel-Crafts Cross-Linked Polystyrene [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The combination of a difunctional alkylating agent, either hydroxymethylbenzyl chloride or α,α′-dichloroxylene with polystyrene or high-impact polystyrene together with a Friedel-Crafts catalyst, 2-ethylhexyldiphenylphosphate, and an amine to react with ...

A Comparative Study of the Characteristics of Cross-Linked, Oxidized and Dual-Modified Rice Starches

open access: yesMolecules, 2012
Rice starch was cross-linked with epichlorohydrin (0.3%, w/w, on a dry starch basis) and oxidized with sodium hypochlorite (2.5% w/w), respectively. Two dual-modified rice starch samples (oxidized cross-linked rice starch and cross-linked oxidized rice ...

Novel microarrays for simultaneous serodiagnosis of multiple antiviral antibodies. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
We developed an automated diagnostic system for the detection of virus-specific immunoglobulin Gs (IgGs) that was based on a microarray platform. We compared efficacies of our automated system with conventional enzyme immunoassays (EIAs).

Structural Characterization of Black Widow Spider Dragline Silk Proteins CRP1 and CRP4

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
Spider dragline silk represents a biomaterial with outstanding mechanical properties, possessing high-tensile strength and toughness. In black widows at least eight different proteins have been identified as constituents of dragline silk. These represent

The application of the Diels-Alder reaction to polymer syntheses based on furan/maleimide reversible couplings

open access: yesPolímeros, 2005
The furan heterocycle is a dienic reagent particularly suitable for the Diels-Alder reaction and maleimides represent a typical family of complementary reagents because of their strong dienophilic character.
