In vitro effects of azide-containing human CRP isoforms and oxLDL on U937-derived macrophage production of atherosclerosis-related cytokines.

open access: yesExperimental and therapeutic medicine
Atherosclerosis is an inflammatory chronic disease of the arterial wall. Monomeric (m) and pentameric (p) C-reactive protein (CRP) and oxidized low density lipoproteins (oxLDL) seem to affect the pattern of cytokine production by macrophages, thus playing an important role in atherogenesis.

Extracellular DNA, hyaluronic acid, HIF pathways, and LncRNAs as predictive biomarkers of severe COVID-19

open access: yesVirology Journal
The clinical course of COVID-19 ranges from mild symptoms to severe complications, and common laboratory markers such as D-dimer, ferritin, interleukin-6 (IL-6), and C-reactive protein (CRP) often do not accurately predict which patients will develop ...

Exploring the Interplay Between Glycated Albumin, AGEs, and Inflammation in Old Patients with CKD

open access: yesMetabolites
Introduction: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) increases cardiovascular risk through mechanisms such as oxidative stress and the accumulation of advanced glycation end products (AGEs).

Phosphorylation of (Ser 291) in the linker insert of Syk negatively regulates ITAM signaling in platelets

open access: yesPlatelets
Receptor-induced tyrosine phosphorylation of spleen tyrosine kinase (Syk) has been studied extensively in hematopoietic cells. Metabolic mapping and high-resolution mass spectrometry, however, indicate that one of the most frequently detected ...

Investigating the Association of Gene Expression of IL-37 Isoforms a and b and Serum IL-37 with Rheumatoid Arthritis Activity and Severity

open access: yesMedical Journal of Babylon
Background: New rheumatoid arthritis (RA) biomarkers, such as serum interleukin-37, may aid in the identification and management as well as improved monitoring of disease severity, activity, and effectiveness of the therapy.

ApoE Polymorphism is Associated With C-Reactive Protein in Low-HDL Family Members and in Normolipidemic Subjects

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2006
The study was aimed to compare inflammatory parameters between carriers of apoE4 isoforms (apoE4/3, apoE4/2, and apoE4/4 phenotypes) and those of carrying apoE3 isoform without apoE4 isoform (apoE3/3 phenotypes and apoE2/3 phenotypes). The concentrations
